Agence France-Presse calls for the "rapid release" of its photojournalist Yasin Akgul, who was arrested at his home before dawn on March 24 and remanded in custody on March 25 after covering protests against the detention of Istanbul mayor Ekrem Imamoglu on March 19. Vast crowds have since hit the streets daily, defying protest bans in Istanbul and other big cities.

00:00Naturally, Yassine did not participate in these demonstrations.
00:27He covered them as a photographer.
00:29He made 190 clichés, so we naturally have proof of that.
00:34Yassine is well known in Turkey.
00:37He covers all Turkish news for all camps,
00:40as the AFP does, as impartially as possible.
00:45This arrest is absolutely unprecedented in Turkey.
00:50As we know, journalism is not yet illegal in Turkey.
00:54So I call for his quick release.
