00:00We are looking at widespread wet weather which has actually already been going for a couple
00:06of days through central and western parts of Queensland as well as around the North
00:10Tropical Coast.
00:11We've seen many hundreds of millimetres in these places since about the weekend and for
00:16some places that is extremely unusual to get that amount of rain, particularly over central
00:20parts of the state, typically they run quite dry.
00:23Many spots have already seen about six months worth of rainfall this week and by the time
00:27the week comes to a close, it's the potential that some locations will have already received
00:32their annual average rainfall in a week.
00:34So it's a lot of wet weather there, we're seeing significant flooding over Queensland,
00:39particularly central districts and about that North Tropical Coast.
00:42We currently have six rivers through Queensland experiencing major flooding with many, many
00:47more rivers going through minor and moderate flooding at the moment.
00:51In the days ahead though we anticipate this rain to move into new areas, not so much today
00:56or tomorrow, it will still really focus on central Queensland in the next 48 hours, but
01:02by the time we get to Friday and in particular on Saturday, this rain is going to spread
01:07out to the east coast.
01:08So a very wet weekend in store for eastern areas from about Yipoon in Queensland all
01:13the way down to Bega in New South Wales.
01:15So of course that includes Brisbane, that includes Sydney and that includes all those
01:19other highly populated areas along the east coast with a wet few days on the way towards
01:24the end of the week.
