This ex-NFL player isn't letting ALS break his spirit. That's why he created a foundation to help others fighting the crippling disease.

00:00I didn't drink, smoke and worked out excessively.
00:04I was 37 at the time and couldn't believe I could be dead by the age of 40.
00:31I'm looking for people to join my Bougainville Brigade and help us fight this devastating disease.

00:57So we want to be there for others. We want to help them.
00:59We want them to know that we're walking the same exact walk with them.
01:03We're experiencing those same exact challenges.

01:14I didn't have any family history of ALS.
01:17I am what they call a sporadic case, which makes up 95% of cases.
01:23It was something unexpected. It was something that we didn't know that we would be able to carry.

01:45We were seeing all of these medical bills roll in and wondered how do families pay for this.
01:51That was the impetus for us starting the Brig Gants Brigade.
