00:00Relax. You're fine. I've got you. I've got you.
00:30I deteriorated within five minutes. My eyes were rolling back. My friend put me in the
00:44recovery position. People around me were saying I was drunk, but I know that it's a different
00:48feeling.
00:49Over the past couple of weeks in the UK, we've seen a rise in suicides. We've seen a rise
01:00in spiking across the country, and growing reports of spiking through injection, which
01:05is a really scary development to spiking in the UK.
01:17We hate the people that do spiking. We hate the people that enable spiking, and we're
01:24here to protest against it.
01:29It was an economic boycott. It's to create a financial incentive for these venues to
01:34start taking the claims a bit more seriously, and start taking accountability for the safety
01:39of their customers.
01:41In terms of going to clubs now, I think it can be really scary. It's really terrifying.
01:46It's also just really frustrating. We want to just go out and have an enjoyable night,
01:50and instead this has taken over as one of the key issues, and something you have to
01:54think about all night.
01:59What seems to be an overriding theme in all of these stories is the victims of spiking
02:08aren't taken seriously. They're not taken seriously by clubs, which is why we want to
02:13see some action here. They're very often kicked out for being too drunk, and kind of left
02:20on the streets essentially, which just opens up a whole new level of risk once you have
02:26been spiked. They're not being taken seriously by the police. There are very minimal prosecutions
02:33for spiking here in the UK.
02:40How many more women and girls will be hunted or excluded before the Prime Minister himself
02:48finally takes a stand?
02:51Mr Speaker, the reports of spiking are extremely disturbing, and as the Honourable Lady knows,
02:56it's already a criminal offence, and I know that my right hon. Friend the Home Secretary
03:02has asked the police to update her on exactly what details they have of what is happening.
03:16We want clubs to take more accountability, because they have a duty of care for everyone
03:19attending their events. Drink covers, testing kits, mental health wardens on site to help
03:24girls that have been spiked, because I think that people forget that it's actually a really
03:28traumatic experience, and it has a lot of negative impacts, not just on your physical
03:33health, but also your mental wellbeing.
