00:00Remember who you're actually fighting for.
00:13It's not for that news headline, but you're fighting for the youth.
00:16Bring us to the table.
00:21Zero hour is called zero hour because this is zero hour to act on climate change.
00:28We decided to do something a lot more urgent that was more like kids sounding the alarm
00:32versus like a general environmental advocacy because we really wanted zero hour to cut
00:35through the status quo and to really make a difference in a way that was disruptive.
00:39And I thought, well, if people see hundreds and thousands of young people all around the
01:01world marching for this, they'll realize how much we know what's happening and how much
01:06we care.
01:07We're very justice oriented.
01:08We work on tackling the intersections of the climate crisis and how systems of oppression
01:12cause a climate crisis in the first place and educating people about that and how climate
01:17change intersects with colonialism and racism and all these other issues.
01:27I really actually don't think climate deniers are that big of a problem in the percentage
01:38of the overall population genuinely believes in this issue.
01:41I think we are way past the time where we're trying to convince every little last denier.
01:46And really the problem is not the individual, you know, working class people who are brainwashed
01:51by corporations.
01:52The problem is the corporations who know that climate change is real, who know it's a threat,
01:56but then actively brainwash their constituents, actively brainwash the population into thinking
02:01that it's not an issue so they can get away with continuing to poison us.
02:04They are putting profits in the fossil fuel industry over the lives of their own children
02:09and my generation, and they are continuing to let the fossil fuel and animal agriculture
02:13industries extract and destroy all the natural resources that we need to live all at the
02:19expense of my generation.
02:34That's not 12 years to wait and then turn the issue around, that's within 12 years we
02:49must have completely transitioned to renewable energy, completely planted a bunch of trees
02:54to take carbon out of the air and just transformed society as we know it in order to make it
02:59something livable.
