In Kenya, dogs are trained to spot poachers

This puppy is training for a very special mission: tracking poachers in the Maasai Mara National Reserve.

00:00They normally put wire snares and maybe they can chase into falleys and use the matches,

00:24swords and the pangas to cut them.

00:54Dogs that are active, dogs that like to eat, play a lot, things like that, but like I said

01:10genetics and drives is what we're looking for, the proper drive to do the work.

01:25There's still a lot of work to do but we caught over I think 4,000 poachers in the last 18 years

01:33so that speaks great, you know, how much they put effort to it. Without that

01:40we could have thousands and thousands of animals dead.
