00:00Morning, I'm Kurt Morton. I'm from Andover in Hampshire and I farm 600 acres.
00:04Brilliant. Tell me where we are and what we're doing here today.
00:07We are a group Farmers to Action and we're down here in Portsmouth today to try and lobby the
00:13Labour MPs to fight against this IHT that the Labour government are supposedly imposing.
00:21Tell me what the reaction's been like today.
00:23We've had a positive reaction from the members of the public as always. Everything we do,
00:27we always have a great support off the members of the public. It seems to me that they are fed
00:31up with this government now as well. They've hit just about every sector and corner of the country
00:36in the pocket and people are starting to get fed up with it. We've got 15 other demonstrations
00:42throughout the country going on today. Two in Hampshire, one here in Portsmouth, one in Basingstoke.
00:47Fabulous. I know it's an obvious question. Why is it really important to keep our farmers and,
00:54you know, you doing this today?
00:56I suppose the first thing is we're not making a great deal out of it. You know,
01:00we would be prepared to pay the tax if we were earning a suitable income out of it but we're not.
01:06We are prepared to pay the tax. We pay tax anyway. We'd quite happily pay this IHT
01:10if we were making a decent living out of it. It is not possible. It is not possible to pay it.
01:15It's going to rip our communities apart, rip our livelihoods apart and rip our homes apart.
02:54Apply to IHT for all.
