00:00The House Impeachment Prosecution Panel asked the Senate to issue summons to make Vice President Sara Duterte answer to the upcoming Articles of Impeachment.

00:12The House Impeachment Prosecution Panel asked the Senate Impeachment Court to issue summons to Vice President Sara Duterte to answer to the Articles of Impeachment.

00:28They based the Rules of Procedure on Impeachment Trials adopted by the Senate in 2011.

00:35It stated that the Writ of Summons should serve as an official who was impeached and answered to the accusations within 10 days.

00:43According to the Rules of Impeachment of the Senate,

00:49if there is an impeachment complaint filed in the Senate, the Senate shall start the proceedings forthwith.

01:00What does forthwith mean?

01:03Without delay. Right away. Without delay.

01:09Even if there is no impeachment, we can see that the hearings of the House and the Senate continue.

01:17The House Prosecution Panel clarified that it is not pressuring the Senate but it does not want to be accused of violating the Constitution.

01:25We are of the opinion that our motion is legally sound.

01:28However, we do understand that the good Senate President might have a differing opinion and thus we would understand the reason for them to refer it to their legal team.

01:36But we remain confident that our submission is in line with our legal theory.

01:41According to the Senate President, standing Impeachment Trial Court Presiding Officer Cheese Escudero,

01:47he will refer the pleading to the Senate legal team so they can discuss it tomorrow.

01:52We are listening to the statement of Vice President Duterte regarding this.

01:56The question now is how the motion of the Prosecution Panel will act since the Senate has not yet convened as an impeachment court.

02:04Escudero said earlier that the Senate will take action once the session resumes on June 2.

02:10The impeachment court will convene on June 3 and the summons will be issued on June 4.

02:17But what if the visa is still in the Netherlands when the summons are issued?

02:21If she would still be abroad, can still file her answer and just approach the nearest consulate to have it apostilled.
