00:00Nothing like using the words, fond memories from a long time ago.
00:08We've become a staple of some of the biggest world tours in music and our sporting events
00:12are up there with any city. Football, rugby and soon to be cycling with the Tour de France,
00:17we can do it all in Cardiff. So we want to hear about all those memories of the biggest
00:20and best events to be hosted by our incredible city.
00:23Well, yeah, I mean, it was the 2015 World Cup when they had the rugby ball coming out
00:30of the wall and I thought that was absolutely fantastic and it's a shame that it didn't
00:35stay there. Plus the 2017 Champions League final between Madrid and Juventus, that was
00:43a great occasion because I've got both Italian and Spanish friends, so that was brilliant.
00:49We didn't get tickets to the game, but they came and we just sampled the atmosphere, you know?
00:54No, the last thing I remember is Wales v Fiji years ago when I was a child. I don't live
00:59here anymore. I live in London now, so different world. Yeah, Wales v Fiji was the last one
01:05I remember. Massive. I remember as a child, it was so much going on all the time.
01:12Probably the rugby, mainly the Six Nations. We went to, was it Italy? No, Ireland and
01:18Wales, and then I went to England and Wales the other day. But yeah, I've been to quite
01:23a few different events, which is nice.
01:25It does get really hectic on game days at Six Nations recently. I guess that's my memory of it.
01:31Absolutely huge. Yeah, you can't get anywhere. Trains, choclock, you have to miss them to
01:38get on to the next step, which is journey homes, horrible. Nightlife though on a rugby
01:46can't beat them. Absolutely can't beat them at all. Yeah.
01:50But what is it about Cardiff that makes it such a great place for these mega events to take place?
01:54Obviously, Cardiff does an excellent job of it, but why?
01:58Yes, and the thing with the rugby is the stadium is actually in the centre, not like we go
02:03to England, Scotland, you have to go outside the city. So that's a big draw, I think. And
02:10Cardiff, with all the pubs and things, it's a fantastic atmosphere.
02:13Well, I work in Bristol and lots of people in Bristol are sort of, oh, you live in Cardiff,
02:18it's a lovely city, and I take it for granted because it's just, you know, I'm used to it,
02:25aren't I? But they absolutely love it and they love coming to the events. So a few of
02:31us went to Springsteen last year. It's great, you know.
02:35I feel like obviously Cardiff is the capital city of Wales and everyone just comes here.
02:40It's a nice city, the swimming areas are nice, and I feel like we've got really nice culture as well.
02:46Especially in Wales, compared to England and everything, Wales is that one country where
02:53everyone in Wales can just relate to one another.
02:56It's quite a strong community, I suppose, yeah.
