James McAvoy tells Men's Journal how he built up the muscle to play his uber-jacked schizophrenic character in the movie 'Glass'.

00:00On Glass, I thought to myself, I'm going to spend at least 70% of the movie with my shirt
00:13off and running about pretending to be super strong and beast-like, so it was important
00:17to get, in terms of me anyway, bigger.
00:21I hired a guy who really knew what he was doing, he's called Magnus Ligdeback.
00:25I ate five or six meals a day, generally five, but sometimes we upped it to six.
00:29It was a lot of clean carbs, and a lot of lifting, and a lot of five to six days a week
00:35in the gym.
00:36It was generally just 45 minutes to an hour.
00:38Sometimes we'd do a second session, but that would generally be a low-level recovery session,
00:43so it'd be just gentle swimming for 45 minutes, or it'd be cycling for half an hour, or whatever
00:48it was.
00:49I mean, it's that simple, really.
00:50Eat a lot, work out a lot, put on a lot of weight.
