00:002-7 split between Alabama and St. Mary's. Donnie, a fascinating game because two contrasting styles
00:06on full display. The Crimson Tide, the fastest team in college hoops. St. Mary's, the fifth
00:12slowest pace in all of college basketball. What would win out yesterday? It was the Crimson Tide,
00:1880-66, knocking off St. Mary's. The Crimson Tide covering as a five and a half point favorite. Our
00:25pregame total of 149.5 did actually stay under. Highest number of the year for the Gales,
00:32lowest number of the season for Alabama. Does stay under, but Alabama comfortable. St. Mary's
00:38really playing from a deficit all 40 minutes long. DRS never really could stay within striking
00:43distance. That's the issue when you're the underdog, but also when the underdog that plays
00:47at a slow pace, as we talked about, Drake, you have to have the lead. You have to dictate the
00:51circumstances of that game, and they weren't able to do that. And quite frankly, they weren't
00:54favored to do that either. Like Alabama was supposed to impose their will, and they did.
00:58And we say this so many times, when you're an underdog against a team that's better than you
01:03from a better, let's just say, conference, you must shoot the lights out from three-point range.
01:07Lights out. Three of 14, 21% for the Gales. That's not really their game, firing away from
01:12three-point range, but you better be efficient. You shoot 14 times, you better make eight or
01:15nine of those just to make sure that they understand and can respect you from the
01:18three-point line. But once again, shout out Alabama against a good defensive team in St.
01:22Mary's. They shot almost 52% from the floor. Hey, nobody's questioning that. Alabama's really good.
01:28I just wanted to see a little bit more out of the Gales to sort of maybe turn that vice grip
01:31defense up and slow the game down. They couldn't do that. Why? Because Alabama's just better.
