Nitura leads Lady Falcons back to winning form as it sweeps Lady Warriors

Adamson Lady Falcons super rookie Shaina Nitura was grateful to have established the UAAP women's volleyball scoring record of 38 points but which was not enough as they went down against the UP Fighting Maroons in five sets, 15-25, 25-15, 26-24, 22-25, 10-15 at the end of Season 87 first round action on March 16, 2025. This time around, Nitura pumped 18 points on top of five digs as Adamson ended a 4-game skid, sweeping UE, 25-20, 25-11, 25-21, at the Mall of Asia Arena on March 22.

00:00What's your favorite moment here in UAE?
00:04As of now, I don't have any because the season is not yet over.
00:08I'm still hoping that something good will happen in the past few days.
00:14According to your record, a lot of people reacted, even Aliza Valdez and CeCe.
00:19They read the coronavirus. What did you feel during those interactions?
00:25Of course, I'm grateful because the veterans, the superstars of Philippine Volleyball,
00:33acknowledged my hard work and what I do.
00:37I'm very grateful.
00:39But we still want to win.
00:43We want to achieve wins instead of records.
00:47You keep saying that you want better wins.
00:51Are you frustrated because you got the accolades but the wins are not translated?
00:58I'm sad but not frustrated.
01:01I know there are better plans and it will happen for a reason.
01:05I know time will come that my teammates, even if you don't remind them,
01:13they will remind themselves that they have to step up as well.
01:18Coach said that time will come.
01:21You just have to be patient.
01:23Stopping a four-game losing streak.
01:27Is this a win for you?
01:29What does this mean to your team if you will continue?
01:34It's a stepping stone for us to play better.
01:38It's not the best game we had.
01:42It's not our best game since the past round.
01:48We're still looking for a game that we can play better.
01:55We're still trying to get the rhythm to play better.
01:59We're all on top of each other.
02:03Eliza mentioned that she believes that she can break a lot of records.
02:11Is that pressure or motivation for you?
02:14It's not pressure.
02:16I don't think about it too much.
02:20The more you think about it, the more pressure you get.
02:28If God wills it, He will.
02:30If not, it's fine.
02:32The goal of the game is to win.
02:34How did the team take the game that was so close to a record game?
02:42I can't answer that.
02:46For you?
02:47I'm sad because we didn't get the record.
02:51But there's a reason why we didn't get it.
02:54We wanted to make it to the Final Four.
02:57We strived harder than the first round.
03:01You mentioned about the pressure of other people.
03:04But within yourself, how would you say you handle your expectations?
03:08Especially when there are losses.
03:12Expectations and myself.
03:14I know my capacity as a person.
03:17I don't have to rely on anyone's expectations unless it's my coaches and my team.
03:23But anything else behind that, I can't look at.
03:28What I look at is what I work on every day.
03:32What I know I can do, that's what I'll do.
03:35Shai, on a lighter note.
03:38We said that the pros look forward to watching you play.
03:43Do you have an idolized player in PBL?
03:46I'm jealous.
03:48Ever since I played...
03:52Actually, LaSalle was there when I played against them.
03:57It was in the 70's.
03:59Before I started, I watched them play.
04:03They looked up to me.
04:07I saw that they were really good.
04:09So I played with them.
04:10Did you ever think that you'd have this kind of interaction with them?
04:15I never expected that I'd have this kind of interaction.
04:22When you're expecting, there's pressure.
04:25It's better to not expect and just do your job.
