00:00Prithviraj sir, what is the biggest challenge facing while making this film, under huge
00:09action blocks we are seeing, what is the biggest challenge for you?
00:15So like I said, at least for us in Kerala, we have never really tried something like
00:20this.
00:21And from the very beginning I was very keen that I will not make this a studio film.
00:26This is not a film shot against green mats or inside studios.
00:30I was very keen that I will go to real locations and film everything for real.
00:34There is very little CGI in the film.
00:37All the explosions and the choppers and everything that you see in the film are all real, which
00:42then meant that I had to travel around the world for almost two years to sort of finalize
00:48the locations where I could shoot this film.
00:51Like say for example, we went to the US.
00:53One schedule of our film was in the US.
00:56Usually when a film goes to the US, what do you do?
00:57Like you shoot in a city, maybe two cities.
01:01So we went to the US with a big unit, with a big unit because my camera does not use
01:05lights at all.
01:06Anyway, with a big unit we went to the US and we started shooting near Albuquerque in
01:12Santa Fe, New Mexico.
01:13Then we went to Gilman Tunnels, then we went to Arizona, then we shifted to New Orleans,
01:17then we shifted to Yuma, White Sands, then we shifted to New York and we went to New
01:23Jersey.
01:24And it's not like a 20 member unit, it's a big unit.
01:27We had to chart airlines, have special aircrafts and everything.
01:31So it was a big logistical challenge.
01:33Then we went to the UK.
01:35And so when I'm dreaming, I can dream limitless.
01:38No, I wanted to close off the Waterloo Circle.
01:40I wanted to block off one whole tube line in London, the city and Waterloo line I wanted
01:45to close off for one day.
01:47And everyone including the UK line producers who used to do these big Hindi English films
01:52told me it is not possible.
01:53They said it is impossible, you can't do it.
01:55I went straight personally to the London Council Transport Office and I made a request and
02:00I told them that this is what and they agreed to it.
02:02And we did.
02:03So things like that we never knew were possible.
02:05That was the biggest challenge.
02:06So two years it took us to set up the project.
02:09And actually we have only shot the film for 143 days.
02:12When I say only, for a film of this size, 143 days is not too bad, you know.
02:17So the shooting was very smooth because before that we could set up everything very well.
02:21But setting up was a big challenge.
02:23My cinematographer, myself, my assistants, we have travelled around the world for months
02:28on end.
02:29He was very keen on, in particular, he was asking about the explosions, the actions.
02:38We find it very difficult to make these action portions, especially explosions.
02:44So he was travelling all over the world to find out a place and finally we made some
02:49sets.
02:50Otherwise we could not put that kind of explosions.
02:51Sir, Mohanlal sir, what is the toughest part for you, for this film?
02:57So far nothing.
02:58Nothing called tough, tough.
03:02This is a beautiful journey, this is a film shooting, there is nothing called tough.
03:07When it comes to a physical, like maybe some action portion, otherwise this is a beautiful
03:11entertainment land.
03:12It's like a picnic we shoot the film.
03:15Rajiv, Namaskaram.
03:16Hello.
03:17Sukumamma.
03:18Sukumamma.
03:19Sukumamma.
03:20So, this is one of the biggest budget films in Malayalam.
03:24Are you a Telugu speaking person?
03:27Yes, sir.
03:28You can ask this question in Telugu so that everyone can understand.
03:30So you made a film with a huge budget in Malayalam industry.
03:35So how did you balance as an actor and as a director?
03:40So for me, you know, it was just one, making a film for me is one big process.
03:45Like for me, I am a very studious filmmaker that way because when I have my script ready,
03:51then I have, I spend a lot of time planning out the film.
03:56So I've always believed in the mantra that the easiest part about making a film should
04:00be shooting the film.
04:02You know, actually these promotions are all very tough.
04:04Shooting is very easy.
04:05So easiest part of making a film should be shooting the film.
04:08And if that has to be the case, you have to really have a proper plan in place and
04:11all that.
04:12So once that plan is put in place, then there really aren't many challenges.
04:17One particular big challenge that unfortunately we had to face throughout the making of this
04:21film is weather.
04:23Where we ran into really bad weather pretty much every schedule that we shot, starting
04:29from Leladak to Gujarat to the US to the UK to Kerala, we ran into inclement weather repeatedly.
04:35And that unfortunately meant a lot of extra money, time and effort being put into completing
04:40the film.
04:41But I can confidently say that even after having faced so many obstacles, thanks to
04:46my lead actor giving me so much support, thanks to my producer Mr. Antony Perumbawar supporting
04:50me so much, that there is not a single frame where I have compromised in this film.
