00:00Multiple regions of Ukraine came under massive Russian aerial attack overnight, officials
00:07reported on Friday.
00:10In the black seaport city of Odessa, Russian drone strikes injured at least three people
00:15and started several fires.
00:17The regional governor said civilian infrastructure and commercial facilities were damaged or
00:22destroyed in the attack.
00:25At least six people were also injured in Zaporizhia by Russian glide bombs, according to its
00:29regional head.
00:31Meanwhile, Russia and Ukraine also accused each other of attacking a gas metering station
00:37in Sudzha, a town in Russia's Kursk region.
00:41Moscow called the attack an act of terrorism by Ukraine, while Ukraine's general staff
00:46denied any involvement, saying the Russians themselves attacked the facility in an act
00:50of provocation aimed at discrediting Ukraine.
00:56in principle to a limited ceasefire on Wednesday, after US President Donald Trump spoke with
01:01the country's leaders this week.
01:09German customs authorities have seized the Panama Flag tanker Iventan, which has been
01:14anchored off Germany's Baltic Sea coast since January, according to local media.
01:19It was towed to shore after it was discovered adrift in heavy seas.
01:24The ship is believed to be part of Russia's so-called Shadow Fleet, which Western governments
01:29say is used by Russia to dodge sanctions and keep oil revenue flowing.
01:35Security sources said that a confiscation order was issued, declaring that the tanker
01:39and approximately 100,000 tons of crude oil will become German property.
01:47Germany's upper house has voted in favor of a landmark bill that plans to unlock hundreds
01:53of billions of euros for defense and infrastructure projects.
01:57The Bundesrat supported the measure, with more than two-thirds majority on Friday, allowing
02:02the government to massively boost military spending.
02:06The bill passed with 53 yes votes out of 69.
02:37The legislation will amend Germany's constitutionally enshrined fiscal rules and will also create
02:44a 500 billion euro special fund to finance infrastructure projects over the next 12 years.
02:55Poland's former defense minister has been charged by prosecutors after publishing government
03:00contingency plans in the case of a Russian invasion.
03:04Mariusz Blaszczak, who served in the Conservative Law and Justice Party that held power between
03:082015 and 2023, revealed a military defense plan that had been drawn up in 2011 in the
03:15case of a Russian invasion.
03:17That document laid out plans for Polish forces to retreat westward to the Vistula River in
03:22the case of an attack from the east.
03:25Prosecutors allege Blaszczak exceeded his powers by publishing the information, which
03:30they say was classified.
03:33However, Blaszczak said he had a duty to share the plans and would do it again without hesitation.
03:40The charges against Blaszczak are the latest in a string of legal troubles for members
03:44of the Law and Justice Party, with the former MP arrested only last week on corruption charges.
03:55Sudan's military says it has retaken the Republican palace in Khartoum from the paramilitary
04:00RSF forces after nearly two years of fighting.
04:05The seizure of the compound, which was the seat of government before the war erupted,
04:08represents a major symbolic victory for the Sudanese army.
04:13However, it likely doesn't mean the end of the war, as the RSF holds territory in Sudan's
04:18western Darfur region and elsewhere.
04:22The RSF also claimed to still be present in the area, and a drone attack on the palace
04:26was reportedly launched by the paramilitaries.
04:30The head of UNICEF has said that Sudan's conflict has created the world's largest humanitarian
04:35crisis.
04:37Estimates on the death toll range from 28,000 to 150,000 people killed and millions displaced.
04:44Since the war began, both the Sudanese army and the RSF have faced allegations of human
04:49rights abuses.
