00:00Were you always encouraged as a child to speak your mind, whether at home or in school?
00:08No, no, no, no. Not at all.
00:11That was a quick no.
00:13Yeah, no talaga. I went to a Catholic school, so alam mo na kung nagsasabihin nun.
00:19All girls.
00:20Yeah, all girls, all girls, exclusive school. Your opinion was not really important.
00:29It was never valid.
00:31And at home, my mom was really very particular about that.
00:37She was very strict, bawal sumagot, yung mga ganoon.
00:42So I never had the luxury of being able to voice out my opinions freely.
00:48I just did it anyway kasi matiga sa ulo ko. Yun lang.
00:53So that's why nothing can stop me.
00:55If I want to talk a certain way or express my opinions,
00:58if my parents and my school weren't able to stop me, no one else can.
01:02Parang sa Great Way of Putih, at least hindi baligtan, diba?
01:06Yung effect na parang because they tried to stop you,
01:09parang ang naging effect nun is talagang magpupulsuhin ka.
01:13Mas lalo.
01:14And I will say what I want to say.
01:15Mas lalo niyo akong pinigilan. Mas gusto ko magsalita.
01:18Did you grow up po ba here in Manila?
01:21I grew up in Manila. Born and raised in Manila.
01:24Parents ko rin born and raised in Manila.
01:27So very accustomed to the big city life.
01:32Oh yeah. Super. I'm a city girl. True and true.
01:37So how does that translate now that you're an adult with your own family?
01:43Do you encourage people around you, your kids also to do the same?
01:50Be very active and vocal.
01:53Yes, I do. I encourage my kids to do that.
01:56And my kids are actually, they're very opinionated as well.
02:00They're very opinionated in their own right and in their own circles.
02:04Kasi my kids are not the typical Gen Zers na very, yung malakas ang online presence.
02:11Hindi sila ganon.
02:13They're really more active when it comes to their circles.
02:16Their circle of friends and their communities where they go around.
02:21But yeah, I encourage them to speak up.
02:23Even my 12-year-old daughter, I encourage her to be very vocal about,
02:28if she sees something wrong, to call it out immediately.
