During Friday's State Department Press Briefing, Spokesperson Tammy Bruce discussed claims that Israel has blocked humanitarian aid from crossing into Gaza for the past twenty days.

00:00I'm going to switch topics, sir, if you want to stay on the region.
00:02Well, is it –
00:03I have a question about Gaza.
00:04All right.
00:05Well, thank you.
00:06We'll stay on the region then.
00:07Yes, sir.
00:08Just – Tami, you just mentioned that your goal is to stop the war and to let the humanitarian
00:16aid get inside Gaza, and this is, I believe, the goal of everyone else.
00:21But according to the UN, Israel stopped aid from going through the crossing 20 days now
00:30consecutively.
00:33This is the longest since October 7th.
00:35And this happened before the renewed airstrikes now, so there was no military operations in
00:44the region that prevent aid from going in.
00:47Do you feel that this is a collective punishment for Palestinians in Gaza to force Hamas to
00:53give some concessions?
00:54And is this acceptable?
00:55Well, when you're asking me if I feel something, obviously I'm not going to go into a soliloquy
01:01of what I feel.
01:03What I can tell you is I also won't speak about a hypothetical or a separate report
01:09of what has happened with Israel.
01:12You would need to ask the Israeli Government about if something occurred that you believe
01:16occurred or want clarity on.
01:18I don't speak for the Israeli Government or for their prime minister.
01:21I speak for the U.S. State Department that has an interest in it.
01:25But you're asking a question we probably could discuss over dinner, but that's not a question
01:30for this podium or for what we are discussing here.
01:33What we do know, there are certain things that are facts of the matter, is that Hamas
01:39has put Israel and the world and the Gazan people in this position because of their – the
01:45madness, the savagery that they decided would be a good thing to do.
01:50I don't know what they thought would occur, but it perhaps is not what has occurred, which
01:55is a unity around the world after we saw that atrocity on October 7th.
02:00What we also, though, have done for everyone affected as a global issue, certainly first
02:05the Gazan people, the Israelis, et cetera, but as a global unified effort, is to stop
02:12the carnage.
02:14It's a meat grinder.
02:15It's people being used by others who just seem to not – certainly they're not focused
02:20on peace at the end.
02:22It is Hamas who needs to be asked certain questions about why this continues, because
02:27this has been their choice.
02:29There has been elements that have been agreed upon, other steps that people – the world
02:35came together to facilitate that the United States was committed to, and it's still – they
02:41still abandoned it.
02:43Idan Alexander, when we talk about hostages who have been released or killers of Americans
02:49who have been extradited, there is an American who is still being held, the bodies of the
02:55dead being held.
02:57That is what is in front of us.
02:59This is what needs to be stopped.
03:01And that is what we're committed to.
03:02Yes, sir.
