A look around the West Midlands Distillery, Brierley Hill before tours and whisky tasting begins.

00:00Welcome to the West Midlands Distillery and our brand new visitor centre right here at

00:05the Waterfront, Merrihill Centre. We've got our fantastic history wall here telling you

00:10about the rich heritage and history of our wonderful region here in the Black Country,

00:14going all the way back to, of course, Dudley Castle, which is our logo here at the WMD.

00:20We've then got some of our Rehe cask storage here, so you can see some of our casks that

00:25we have here maturing out to become single malt whisky. And then behind here we have

00:31our distilling school. This, you'll be able to come in under our tutorage and create your very

00:36own micro cask of whisky, take away, home, age out and make your very own whisky under our expert

00:45tuition. This will be opening later on in the year, around May, June time, so keep an eye on

00:51our websites and our socials for that. We have our shop here in the visitor centre where you'll

00:56be able to purchase our spirits that we produce. We have the genealogy of our own history of where

01:03we started from with our brands and how we've changed them across the years as well. Also,

01:08our awards that we've been lucky enough to win over the years as well. This is our tasting area

01:14where you'll come in, sit down on these wonderful comfy seats and enjoy tasting our spirits,

01:20our single malt whiskies, our gins, our vodkas, our rums and that makes up part of our tours and

01:25our tastings and experiences here. Through these doors we go into where the magic happens and this

01:30is where we actually fulfil the production. We have our brewing area here where we make our wash

01:37and our stills here where we produce our spirit ready for aging into these casks here. We have

01:44this one for instance is a wine cask, this one here is a bourbon cask. Over here our fermentation

01:50where we actually produce the beer from that wash before being distilled into our single malt spirit.
