00:00Hello and welcome to Manchester World, my name is Theo Cusinbet and today we have a
00:04very exciting Feature Friday video for you, where basically, you see this amazing city
00:08behind me, we're going to find out how to explore it best on a little bit of a budget.
00:13I have exactly £10 and with that I'm going to find myself a coffee, I'm going to find
00:17myself lunch and we're going to do a little bit of exploring as well.
00:21I thought it might be a good idea to consult AI.
00:23Now I work in Manchester all day every day, I already have quite a good idea of the places
00:27that I like and the places that I've explored and I don't really want you to be overly
00:31influenced by the things I do, I'd like this to be an opportunity for me to try and explore
00:35the city a little bit as well.
00:36Now here are the suggestions that it came up with, we may as well get going rather than
00:40just hearing me talk, so let's get out into Manchester and let's have a little bit of
00:44an explore.
00:45So here we are then out and about on the streets of Manchester and on our way to the very first
00:49stop, the Shoegaze Cafe, which as I said won't actually be here for much longer, it used
00:54to be a sort of dessert ice cream sort of place, but since that tenant left the landlord
00:58figured that instead of leaving it vacant while he looks for a new person to step into
01:01the lot, they may as well set up something that he cares about, and what that is is a
01:05Shoegaze Cafe.
01:06Shoegaze music is something that's very difficult for me to explain personally, but what's really
01:11important is the vibe and the fact that coffee is only £2.
01:15Now Chachi Petit also mentioned exploring the Northern Quarter and you have ample opportunity
01:18to do that walking past Affleck's, the newly located Fremount Night and Day in Stephenson
01:23Square as well, on your way to get yourself a very, very lovely filter coffee.
01:28Now as I say £2 free refills and fortune cookies, you really can't go wrong, and Henry
01:33the owner who's usually in there is a great conversationalist to boot.
01:37So there we are, Shoegaze Cafe, £2 filter coffee, free refills as well if you fancy
01:41sitting in there, and you get a little fortune cookie too, which I've got in my hand here,
01:46you can't see because I'm holding the camera, but you will soon find the pot of gold at
01:51the end of the rainbow.
01:52And I'm in a great mood as well.
01:54And then we move on to Cafe North, which was the choice of the budget-friendly lunch options.
01:59We know for a fact that they're an incredibly popular Manchester staple by now and they
02:02have a tonne of options under £10.
02:05I'd already spent £2 on the coffee, so I went for £7 on this amazing breakfast sandwich.
02:09Sausage, bacon and egg, cannot go wrong.
02:12What a delightful meal it was, and what a delightful atmosphere as well.
02:16But Cafe North itself, really, really recommend, staff were lovely, and again, it was really
02:20good quality food.
02:22The bacon was really thick cut, the sausages were tasty, it was none of the cheap stuff,
02:26so well worth the £7.
02:28We're going to round off at the John Rylands Library, we're going to be brief here because
02:31I don't want to take up too much of your time, but wow, what a building, it really is a place
02:36of massive cultural importance to Manchester, an amazing building, and an amazing story
02:41behind it too.
02:42So, with it being free to get in, you really can't go wrong, and honestly, you can't go
02:47wrong with anything that we've gone through today, from the Shoe Gaze Cafe, to Cafe North,
02:52right through to the John Rylands Library, that spells a perfect cheap afternoon in Manchester.
02:57So come down, give them a try, and follow Manchester World for more.
