00:07Those could be used for online scamming.

00:17For the amount of P3,500 to P6,500, these SIM card modem pools were sold online.

00:24The four devices can text blast almost 100 text messages with one click of a button.

00:31It can be used for phishing or sending text messages with a link

00:35to get personal information of the victim of online scamming.

00:39According to the PNPACG, it was slid by an electrician of a pogo shop and was sold online.

00:46Maybe because he lost his job, he was able to get those machines.

00:52Just to have money, he sold it cheaply.

00:57The signal jammers were sold for P3,500 if the range is 5 to 10 meters,

01:02while the range is P52,000 if the range is 500 square meters.

01:06These signal jammers, what they're saying, these people who were arrested,

01:11they were ordered here in China.

01:13And then they are reselling these all.

01:15The PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group monitored the sale,

01:18so they conducted a separate buy-bust operation.

01:22Eight people were arrested for selling signal jammers in Pasig City.

01:26Two were arrested for selling SIM card modem pools in Muntinlupa.

01:30They will be charged with violating the Anti-Cybercrime Law.

01:34These devices are highly regulated and need permission from the National Telecommunication Commission

01:39to be sold and used.

01:42Eventually, these devices will be used in crime.

01:46So why not disrupt them while they're not used yet?

01:51We know that there are many victims of scams using these machines.

01:57So why should we wait for them to commit scams?
