00:00Meanwhile, former overseas Filipino workers in Central Visayas

00:03sold their products in the first country trade fair of the Department of Migrant Workers in Central Visayas.

00:10This is still part of the initiative of the Department of Migrant Workers for the opening of the National Women's Month.

00:16Xenia Oliverio of PTV Cebu, in Centro ng Balita.

00:22For 15 years, Jordan and Mary Ann have been married abroad.

00:27And recently, they decided to stay in the Philippines and continue their small pastry business in Cebu.

00:34They are among the beneficiaries of the livelihood program of the Department of Migrant Workers in Central Visayas

00:40where they sold their products such as torta, cupcake, and brownies

00:46in the first country mini trade fair of the DMW Region 7.

00:50This is a form of support for the advocacy of the agency to the OFWs and part of the opening of the National Women's Month.

00:58In our business, way back in 2022, during the lockdown,

01:06and then actually, our business, we sold it to our sister during the pandemic.

01:14So, since after the pandemic, it was okay, and then I went back to the OFW,

01:20I was the one who sold it, together with my wife.

01:23In 2023, when Mary Ann went back to the Philippines and Xenia,

01:27the livelihood assistance of the DMW was a big help to continue their business.

01:33As an OFW, when you go back to the Philippines, you go back from the scratch.

01:41It's not like what we usually do. We are used to going back and forth.

01:46Especially for us, it's more than 15 years here abroad.

01:51It is our mandate to also support our OFW sellers, our OFW business owners.

01:57So, this is one way to encourage them to really stay in the country and not go abroad.

02:03The beneficiaries of the DMW are thankful because it also helps to market their products.

02:10For example, right now, they are marketing their business,

02:17but at the same time, they are also helping the people of Cebu.

02:21The DMW in Central Visayas hopes to expand their trade fair in the next few months.
