00:00Female and then all time.
00:07Reps from the three wing side, please join the boat to upper tree.
00:14Father, come from here.
00:17So our three eagles, including Philippine Eagle Lakwe, a male eagle, he is 20 years old.
00:26And he is the replacement of Uswag.
00:28Our plan is to introduce him so that hopefully he will be the mate of Philippine Eagle Carlito.
00:36The other mate is Philippine Eagle Lyra Sinabadan.
00:41She is 8 years old.
00:43A female mature eagle, sexually mature.
00:47And then her mate is Philippine Eagle Kalatungan, a 3 year old male eagle.
00:55They are still young, but because of the protocols that we are implementing,
01:00what we call cohort bonding,
01:02they are now in each other.
01:05They are now together in the cage and hopefully they will also be sexually mature pairs eventually.
01:12Are they rescued?
01:14Yes, so all of our three eagles are rescued and rehabilitated
01:20because that is a sad thing that is happening in Mindanao.
01:25In our estimate, all of the forests of Mindanao have territorial pairs or eagles.
01:33And we have sexually mature or surplus birds that can be seen in the boundaries of the territories.
01:44And these surplus or immature eagles that do not yet have a mate,
01:48they are the ones that are usually shot, shot or trapped.
01:55So one methodology or approach that the DNR and the Philippine Eagle Foundation are doing
02:06is to transfer these surplus birds
02:08so that they can be rescued from the threat of shooting and shooting
02:14and put them in the forests where there are no more Philippine Eagles
02:17and they will be protected by the stakeholders.
02:22So that is the role of the Luby Mountain Range in Leyte.
02:27We are sure that there are no more Philippine Eagles.
02:30So we will return the Philippine Eagles here in Leyte
02:35by translocating or transferring surplus eagles to Mindanao.
02:40And hopefully, in the future, there will be surplus birds in the summer that can be transferred here.
02:47The target is to release a maximum of 16 birds in 5 years.
