00:00Those talks between President Trump and President Putin have been characterized as having been
00:06a success in Moscow.
00:08How are they viewed by Ukraine?
00:11Well, certainly President Trump would describe them as a huge success for himself as well,
00:19but it's not that much that is a success from our point of view.
00:25Let me start with two fundamentals that haven't been changed since these talks.
00:30First, Russia wants to subjugate Ukraine, destroy Ukrainian statehood, and Russia failed
00:36to do this militarily.
00:38That's why they are trying to exploit opportunities to achieve this goal by diplomatic means.
00:43Secondly, the United States views their strategic priorities somewhere else, not in Europe and
00:52neither in Ukraine.
00:53They believe that Russia may be instrumental in deterring China in the inter-Pacific, Iran
00:59in the Middle East, and strengthen security of Israel.
01:03That's why for Mr. Trump, Ukraine doesn't matter, and he may try to exchange Ukraine
01:10for something that President Putin may offer.
