00:00One of the big issues at this campaign will be about health care.
00:04A Labor government that believes in strengthening Medicare
00:07by tripling the bulk billing incentive for every single Australian.
00:12We in the last budget increased it, tripled it
00:16for 11 million concession card holders. That has lifted up the bulk billing rate
00:20for those Australians to 90 percent. What we're doing now is tripling the
00:26bulk billing incentive for all 27 million Australians.
00:29We expect that will lead to 90 percent of bulk billing so that
00:33when you need to see a doctor you can see them for free.
00:37The other thing we're doing is expanding our urgent care clinic network
00:42from 87 to an additional 50. At the last election we promised 50.
00:48We've over delivered with 87 urgent care clinics that have seen 1.2
00:53million Australians see a doctor when they need it
00:57for free and all they've needed is this little bit of plastic here.
01:02All they have needed is their Medicare card
01:06not their credit card because it's one of the things
01:09that defines us as Australians. We do not need an Americanisation
01:14of our health care system. What we need to do
01:18is to look after each other in the way that Australians do.
