00:00Well, first of all, according to D.L. Hughley's argument, every single black person should
00:06be a Democrat.
00:07And I think that's utterly ridiculous.
00:08You see, we have a two-party system, and you need people of all walks of life on both sides
00:14of the party, and that's what makes this system the best you could ever imagine and the best
00:18in the entire world.
00:20And the reason why I listed my qualifications is because, quite frankly, no, actually, Kamala
00:24Harris does not have my qualifications.
00:25I'm a West Point graduate.
00:27I served my country in combat as an Apache pilot.
00:30I have three master's degrees from Cornell University.
00:33And I'm the congressman for a white-majority district that President Trump would have won
00:37by almost 20 points, and I won by 26 points, because literally people are not looking at
00:43the color of my skin, they're looking at my qualifications, and our party doesn't play
00:47that game.
00:48So if you could say something to D.L. Hughley right now, what would you say?
00:51Oh, actually, I was actually a big fan of his growing up and a big fan of his comedy.
00:55And I would love to actually have a conversation with him, a substantive conversation about
01:00this, because that's how we learn, that's how we grow, based on dialogue.
01:04And this whole thing started because Don Lemon made a carte blanche statement about all Black
01:08people, which is utterly ridiculous.
01:09And you're saying that Black people cannot choose the politics that they want to follow
01:15or choose the political party that they want to be a part of because you want to silo them
01:19into thinking that we all have to be the exact same and think alike.
01:23We are not monolithic.
01:26We all have different backgrounds, we all come from different places.
01:29My military background is my father is a colonel, my sister is a West Point graduate, my brother
01:34is a West Point graduate, I grew up in a very conservative home.
01:37The left has nothing to offer someone like me based on the way that I grew up.
01:42And I'm smart enough to understand that and realize that, and I'm not going to continue
01:45to support the left if it doesn't coincide with the way I believe.
01:50We now have the right to choose whatever we want, and that's what I would tell D.L.
