Lee-on-the-Solent National Coastwatch Station have been awarded the Kings Award for voluntary service by the Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire Nigel Atkinson.

00:05Lovely, tell me where we are and what we're doing here today.
00:08We are currently here today at the Leon de Solon Sailing Club
00:11celebrating our award for the King's Award for Voluntary Services.
00:16Tell me how that feels to receive this.
00:19On behalf of all the watchkeepers at Leon de Solon
00:24we are just so honoured to receive this amazing award
00:28that recognises our contribution to Voluntary Services here at Lee.
00:33Tell me why it's so important for you, I know it's obviously quite obvious,
00:39but tell me why it's so important for you guys as a team to be there in need.
00:45The KOBS award just recognises all our watchkeepers
00:50for all their voluntary services they do in keeping that station open
00:55every single day of the year, including Christmas Day,
00:58giving their time freely to help make this coastline safer.
