00:00What was your take on David Andrews' release?
00:03It seems like the Patriots took a really weak spot of their team and made it weaker.
00:08I think a lot of folks are looking at it as a little bit heartless and cold.
00:14The way they did that with a player who has been so good for them and, you know, the guy
00:19who would weakly stand up and take the slings and arrows after disappointing losses.
00:26I kind of looked at it like this, and this might not have been what David wanted to happen.
00:30David, I think, would have been amenable to coming in and saying, I'll earn my spot.
00:35I want to try and come back here and I'm not going to go play someplace else.
00:39But I think the Patriots had in their minds kind of moved on in that position and said,
00:43you know what, we're going to get younger.
00:44We're going to get better at that position.
00:45David's 33 and we're not sure when he's going to be available.
00:50We've got to fix it now.
00:52So instead of leading him on, they moved on.
00:55And I think that there would have been danger in bringing him back unless David was able
00:58to say, look, I'm not asking for a free ride in here.
01:01If I'm playing second team or third team throughout the summer and you move on, then you move on.
01:06So I understand their logic.
01:09If you're going to move on and you know it, then the right thing to do is not to drag
01:14him along through the offseason.
01:16But I can see how it would be surprising or eye-widening for him and painful.
01:22Your understanding is he still wants to play though?
01:25I don't know.
01:26I think he still wants to play for the Patriots, but I don't know if he wants to play anywhere else.
01:30I mean, that's... or still wanted to play for the Patriots.
01:35So I don't know.
01:37He's been pretty mum.
