00:00Snow White is timeless.
00:03To get to step into such an iconic costume
00:06was the most thrilling feeling in the world.
00:09The costumes are so beautiful.
00:12They're almost like another character in the film.
00:15We were really lucky to have Sandy Powell as our costume designer.
00:19The artistry she brings to this movie is really extraordinary.
00:24It's always an undertaking to do a reworking
00:27of something that is already very well known.
00:29But I like to be challenged.
00:31So with Snow White, I was certainly up for the experience.
00:35Snow White's dress was the biggest challenge
00:38because you've got a lot to live up to.
00:40I mean, everybody knows that Snow White costume.
00:42The whole world.
00:43It had to be unmistakably Snow White,
00:45yet be another version.
00:47I did experiments with lots of different blues,
00:50lots of different yellows,
00:51specifically chosen to suit Rachel.
00:53I know when it's the right color,
00:54which is why I'm a bit of a pain.
00:57There's something that brings it all together for an actor.
01:00Obviously the set pieces,
01:01but a costume affects how you carry yourself.
01:04It's always fun to have a villain.
01:06They really are the most exciting characters to dress.
01:08As an actor, it's just so exciting.
01:10The costumes really help you get into character.
01:13And I love the arc of looks that the Evil Queen has.
01:17Gal's costumes are insane.
01:20I was very lucky to have Gal as the Evil Queen
01:23because she's tall and wide-shouldered.
01:25She has a very specific color palette.
01:27Strong, bruised colors.
01:29Intimidating in a way.
01:30And it's all about the sequence.
01:32It always is.
01:33It does incredible things with the lighting.
01:35Who is the fairest of them all?
01:39And that iconic Gal is really essential
01:42because there is something scary about it.
01:45And then the shape of the crown,
01:46it just works with the whole silhouette.
01:49Ravishing, isn't it?
01:52The centerpiece for her is the iconic purple dress
01:55with the white collar,
01:56with the addition of a train on the cloak.
01:59It was like 30 feet long.
02:01It covered the stairs.
02:03That was amazing.
02:06It's a direct reference to the original.
02:08It's the look everybody associates with the Evil Queen.
