The Dallas Mavericks sent Anthony Davis to the Texas Legends to ramp up his recovery from a strained left shoulder. Though there were talks of shutting him down for the season, despite what fans want Davis remains determined to return. Could AD help the Mavs make a playoff run, or is the organization rushing his recovery? Shan also described the torture of watching former Mavs players like Quentin Grimes playing great basketball since leaving the team.

00:00Dallas Mavericks are sending Anthony Davis to the Chop Dome.
00:21Anthony Davis is heading on over to the Texas Legends to allow him to practice with them
00:26and participate in 5-on-5 scrimmages as he ramps up his return from the strained left
00:33shoulder.
00:34Tim McMahon said, look, there were discussions about shutting him down for the year, but
00:38he has been steadfast in his determination to come back.
00:43No!
00:44No, no, no, no, why, why, why?
00:47Now why have him go and practice and run 5-on-5 with the Legends versus the Mavericks?
00:52I don't know how much practice time the Mavericks are doing right now.
00:55Like, first of all, I don't know what the NBA CBA is like during the season, and if
01:00you have this...
01:01I guess the Mavericks can't...
01:02They can't have 5-on-5.
01:03They can't have 5-on-5 also.
01:04All right, let's get these 4-on-4s in.
01:07You can use a 3-on-3 half-court, you can use a half-court 3-on-3.
01:12Well Bobby?
01:13I said, yeah, no room for a center if it's 4-on-4, you gotta eliminate the 5, but no,
01:17this is the Anthony Davis work ethic.
01:19This is why Nico Harrison wanted him.
01:21This is a guy who doesn't matter what's going on, I'm still gonna fight my way back, I'm
01:26still gonna be there.
01:27This is like the Nico Harrison clip I finally found and sent y'all over the weekend of him
01:31playing trash basketball at Montana State, where they're talking about, he has pins in
01:35his ankle and he can't even jump today, but Nico Harrison's out there, he just cares so
01:39much.
01:40That's what he wants in Anthony Davis.
01:41All right, so 3 things popped into my head.
01:44Number one, saving face for Nico, wanting to give Mavs fans a little taste of a return
01:51from the trade and the future.
01:55Anthony Davis, steadfast according to this report, because he doesn't want to just be
02:00murdered and killed throughout the entire offseason.
02:02He doesn't want to show that he's, you know, this street clothes softy.
02:07And then, they're gonna say, look, we're in the 10 spot, all right?
02:12Why are we gonna sit there and bail on the season?
02:15They've had the internal discussions, you would think, already.
02:17We already had the discussions saying the farthest they could fall.
02:21It's not that great in terms of team tank, so if you get Anthony Davis back and try to
02:26make a little bit of noise, you do something crazy in a play-in game or a first-round series,
02:32and a little bit, they're trying to generate any little bit of Mavs optimism, I would just
02:37like him to be shut down.
02:38Yeah, because if they're just doing this just to get him healthy so they don't have to forfeit
02:43games, I assume there's a financial penalty with a forfeit.
02:46They apparently, did you send that that Wynhorse said that they petitioned the league for cap
02:51space?
02:52Yeah, Wynhorse had said yesterday, I read an article where he had said that they have
02:55been asking the league for salary cap relief, and the league, to this point, has not offered
02:59it to them.
03:00Right, because that wouldn't be fair.
03:01And it wouldn't be fair to the teams that are Phoenix or whatever, it wouldn't be fair
03:05to them that, oh, well, we're trying to make the playoffs here, and you're giving this
03:08team free cap space.
