Israel has resumed strikes on Gaza, killing more than 400 people, according to Palestinian authorities.

The attacks threaten the collapse of the two-month ceasefire. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has instructed the military to take ‘strong action’ against Hamas in response to the group's refusal to release hostages and rejection of all ceasefire proposals. A White House spokesperson said Israel had consulted the U.S. administration before carrying out the strikes.
