The brother of an Israeli man held hostage by Palestinian militants Hamas criticized the United Nations Security Council on Wednesday for inaction and urged it to "send a resonating message that terror will never prevail."
Michael Levy's brother, Or Levy, was taken hostage, and Or's wife was killed during the Hamas attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023. Levy was the first person from a hostage family to brief the 15-member Security Council, which has met numerous times on the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza over the past 14 months.
The Security Council has repeatedly called for the immediate and unconditional release of hostages held by Hamas and other groups in four resolutions. However, it has not condemned the militant group's Oct. 7 attack.

00:00Your silence is deafening.
00:02Your inaction is suffocating.
00:05For every day this council fails to act,
00:08the message to the world is clear,
00:11that some lives are worth saving and others are not.
00:15But I refuse to accept that message.
00:18I refuse to accept a world where
00:21my brother's life can be used
00:23as a bargaining chip and be forgotten.
00:25I refuse to believe that this council,
00:28which was created to uphold the highest ideals of humanity,
00:33will turn its back on those who need it the most.
00:37This is your moment to act, to lead,
00:40to show the world that this council has the courage
00:43to stand for what it's right
00:45and send a resonating message
00:48that terror will never prevail.
