00:00An ex-Associate Justice of the Supreme Court believes that the International Criminal Court has no responsibility regarding the questioning of some
00:09in the arrest of the former President Rodrigo Duterte, quoted by Christian Vascones.
00:17The International Criminal Court cannot deny the arrest of the former President Rodrigo Duterte.
00:23The ICC had an obligation to the FPRRD when the former President was in their custody.
00:30The rules of the ICC, they will not inquire how Duterte was arrested and
00:41seized here in the Philippines because they are not part of that. They did not participate in the
00:47seizure of arrest Duterte here. Once they have custody of Duterte when he's delivered,
00:53and he was delivered to the ICC already, they assume jurisdiction over him to proceed with the
01:00trial. So from the point of view of international law, if there was a defect or irregularity,
01:08this arrest in the Philippines, that will not affect the jurisdiction of the ICC.
01:17The PNP chiefs at the time, at least the first two, they said General Bato and General Albayade were
01:32together. There were many high-up PNP members who were together, especially the reward system.
01:39Tony Lavinia added that the war on drugs of the previous administration was not successful.
01:45It became a business because the police are making money from it,
01:49where the victims became poor.
01:51Let's understand, this is not a real war against drugs. A real war against drugs should have gone
01:56after drug pushers, drug syndicates. They went after the poor because they are making money from it.
02:05They have reward money. It's easy to kill. You can't kill the drug lords right away because
02:13they have many bodyguards. They are hiding. They might disappear in the Philippines.
02:19So here, it's a criminal enterprise what happened in the war against drugs.
02:24People made money. Funeral parlors made money. And then the police have cuts. This wasn't about
02:30saving our young people, according to Duterte. This is about making money on doing injustice and massacring the poor.
02:39In June 2017, former Senator Antonio Trillanes de Forza and former Magdaleno Party list representative
02:47Gary Alejandro communicated to the ICC, indicating that what he did was right.
02:50The Marcos administration only did its responsibility as a part of the Interpol.
02:56We saw that the due process was followed. The former president's rights were not violated.
03:04Alejandro is hoping that justice will be given to the EJK victims.
03:08The arrest of the former president was a huge loss for me. It was a very big departure as compared to
03:19those who were just killed, thousands of people, who were not even seen by the sun, who were not given
03:25a chance to defend themselves. Even the lawyers who were defending the victims were killed.
03:3312,000 to 30,000 people were killed by President Duterte's White On Drugs.
