All three cruise lines (along with Disney and MSC Cruises) have been working to improve their private islands.

00:00Hello Cruisers, I am Dan Klein, Executive Editor of Come Cruise With Me.
00:04That is comecruisewith.com, comecruisewith.me.
00:07You already know that. We are the most read cruise website in the world.
00:09Sitting next to me, here at Great Stirrup Cay, with the famous Norwegian lighthouse in the background.
00:14Don't think it actually works as a lighthouse.
00:16We want to talk a little bit about, this is Dennis Post.
00:19Should have introduced Dennis.
00:20We want to talk a little bit about private islands.
00:23So, this is a sort of a relic of a private island, as we have to take a tender.
00:27That won't be the case soon. That is a small ship that brings you from the ship.
00:30Most private islands are docked.
00:32But Dennis, can you explain how cruise lines have made private islands more a part of the experience?
00:36How large the ships are?
00:38Yeah, so now that they have, a lot of them have piers now.
00:41So they can take up to two ships usually.
00:44They make it easier to float, to go on the island.
00:47Modernization, swimming pools, other activities and stuff out there.
00:51Which is amazing.
00:54This one, like you said, it's an older island.
00:57There's still some niceties about it.
01:00So it's very crowded today. There are two ships here.
01:03But something Norwegian has done that's really nice, is there are little carts dotted all about.
01:07There's one right over there that just sells hot dogs, or gives away hot dogs.
01:10There's a Starbucks cart, there's a water cart.
01:12So there are some long lines, but you don't have to wait long lines.
01:15And because the big ships can't stop other places,
01:18you're seeing Royal Caribbean building a second perfect day at Cozumel.
01:22They're building the beach clubs they're building at, not at Cozumel, at Costa Maya.
01:25They're building a beach club in Cozumel.
01:27They're building a beach club in Nassau.
01:29Basically, these are heightened beach days.
01:31If you like the beach, you're going to have a good time.
01:34If you don't like the beach, instead of complaining about how the islands are no longer pristine,
01:38just stay on the ship. No one's at the ship.
01:40The pools are empty, the bars are open.
01:42Dennis, any final words?
01:44Yeah, that tower behind us is a staple for Norwegian.
01:48That's their zipline tower, and Guy Harvey painted.
01:51Guy Harvey, the godfather of the Norwegian escape.
01:53Let me spin this around here real quick.
01:55I can show you what we're looking at.
01:58There's your beach for you.
02:00Yeah, you cannot do better than this.
02:02Take a look at the beach.
02:03I am Dan Kline. He is Dennis Posey.
02:05Come cruise with us soon.
