00:00You are next.
00:02Thank you all for doing this.
00:03Does the Democratic Women's Caucus or House Democrats in general have a response to Senate
00:04Democrats who say that they're going to support the GOP's funding bill that you
00:05all have denounced here?
00:06Yeah.
00:07The leadership sent out a response last night, and they pointed out that House Democrats
00:23have understood the ramifications of what the Republicans are calling a continuing
00:29resolution and that we are standing with the veterans, we are standing with the women,
00:35we are standing with the families who will be hurt if Musk and Doge and Trump are able
00:41to continue their rampage over the federal government and the spending and the programs
00:49that they are already cutting.
00:51And in many ways, what I tweeted out was yesterday we heard from General Milley, and
01:00just in general he was talking about the fact that we send soldiers, servicemen and women,
01:09and they take an oath, and they take an oath to the Constitution and not to a man.
01:17And he said, they are willing to die for our Constitution.
01:23And we must really be willing to live and stand by the Constitution.
01:29And I think that House Democrats understood that we need to make sure that we retain our
01:37constitutional power and authority to say where the money should be spent and how the
01:43money should be spent.
01:45Because the founders gave us that right, because they know we have to go out and get elected
01:50every two years.
01:51We go out and do those sound hearings.
01:52We hear from the people about what they want.
01:56And that's our job to say where and how the money gets spent.
02:02And there has never been a year-long continuing resolution.
02:08It has always ended up as an appropriations bill that has directions from Congress as
02:13what to get spent.
02:15And we stand ready.
02:17There is an alternative.
02:18It is a 30-day extension so they can get back to the table, because they were really close
02:24until Trump said, no, no, no, no.
02:27I like this idea of sending me something without any guardrails.
02:34Guardrails.
02:35Remember, this is the second CR.
02:37They didn't do their job the last Congress.
02:40They haven't done their job this Congress.
02:43And the American people are suffering for it.
02:47Last question.
02:48We are going to go over.
02:50Actually, you.
02:51I said you, right?
02:52Yeah.
02:54Yeah, thank you for doing this.
02:55And I'll try to make it a two-first.
02:57To follow up on his question, I wanted to ask if you think that new leadership is needed
03:02in the Senate in order for Democrats to have a unified message to the public across those
03:07chambers?
03:08And then if I may ask more about what the governor said last night.
03:12You mentioned a couple of their comments, but I'm curious about their general themes
03:15that they shared.
03:16Well, we're House members, and we know that new leadership is going to be Speaker Hakeem
03:23Jeffries.
03:24We absolutely know there needs to be new leadership in the House, and it's Hakeem Jeffries.
03:28Yeah.
03:29You know, I just, I think we're trying to, you know, I did flip Bashir's comments, and
03:36I probably, I think we'll just say, but I'll just say, and other people can do, what I
03:42think is that we were inspired.
03:44They said they had hope.
03:46Yeah.
03:47We were inspired by all three governors and the amazing work they have done, and the fact
03:54that they're always focused on the fact that Democrats have delivered in their communities,
04:01that they've made sure that, you know, roads were built, and that, you know, orphan gas
04:09wells, which was one of our bills, I loved it when they talked about one of our bills,
04:14were, you know, were created, you know, created jobs, addressed the environment, those kinds
04:21of things, and they shared with us what the drastic results would be with the Medicaid
04:29cuts, with the kinds of cuts that the Republicans were proposing.
04:33Do you want to close out?
04:35Yeah.
04:36I'll just do a rapid fire.
