AI use at work: Which are the most sceptical and the most enthusiastic countries in Europe?

Most EU workers believe AI technologies are having a positive impact on their job, but at the same time remain afraid robots might take them away in the future.

00:00Most EU workers believe AI technologies are currently having a positive impact on their job.
00:12A Eurobarometer survey found 66% of employees in the EU think AI and the most recent digital technologies are benefiting their jobs, while 21% disagree.
00:26The most positive country is Malta with an 85% rate, followed by Sweden at 78% and Lithuania at 76%.
00:37The most sceptical nation is Romania. 32% think AI is detrimental to their current job, followed by Italy, Portugal, France and Belgium.
00:49However, some of the most AI-sceptical countries also declare the lowest levels of proficiency in using these new technologies.
00:59In terms of how AI should be used at work, most respondents think it should be limited to ensuring workers' safety rather than directly assessing performances, monitoring workers or even automatically firing people.
01:17Respondents aged 15 to 24 are the most inclined to judge the impact of new technologies on their job positively compared to people aged 55+.
