00:07Campobello Island are used to life's ups and downs with no ferry running this
00:11time of year they're cut off from the rest of New Brunswick but linked to
00:15Maine caught in the middle of a trade war it's a scary situation it really is
00:21there is a grocery store here but options are limited many shop in Maine
00:25when they return to the Canadian border people say they're being forced to pay a
00:2925% tariff on items like milk and eggs ever since Canada imposed its
00:35retaliatory tariffs and it's difficult for us because it makes groceries lots
00:39of groceries more expensive most of them it's very very hard on the seniors it's
00:44very hard on everybody everybody the mayor and province want Ottawa to make
00:49an exemption for Campobello Island I'm worried for the the people that can
00:55afford to pay the extra money explorations with the federal
00:58government we've asked them to consider an exemption and we're still waiting to
01:01hear back it's not just Canada's retaliatory tariffs rattling people
01:06fishermen are bracing for China's 25% tariff on seafood set for next week
01:11while waiting to see if the US does the same you're working on you know pennies
01:16a pound and when you lose dollars a pound you it's it's gonna hurt it's
01:22gonna hurt real bad there's talk about a potential year-round ferry that could
01:26help with the island's isolation as Canada navigates its trade troubles
01:31people here don't want to be forgotten there's two parts to Canada there's
01:35rural Canada and there's urban Canada and don't forget about rural Canada an
01:41official with the Department of Finance in Ottawa says the government is aware
