An investigation is underway after the discovery of what are believed to be human remains at a property at Glenorie in Sydney’s rural north.

00:00I'm standing here on Glenys Place, just behind me is the police cordon here in the Glenory
00:07area, which is just outside of Sydney.
00:10It's a small rural community and just after 11.30 this morning, New South Wales Police
00:16made the discovery of what they believe to be the human remains of someone at an address
00:21on that road behind me.
00:23Our news chopper a little later this afternoon around 3pm managed to catch some images of
00:29three people being led away by police in handcuffs.
00:34Just after 3pm those three people was two men aged 24 and 34, as well as a female aged
00:4235 and they were led away to the Castle Hill Police Station.
00:48And that's the station where police also held a press conference at 4pm this afternoon and
00:53it's where they gave us a little bit more information in relation to this incident.
00:57Currently there are two crime scenes that they are looking at.
01:01There's the place in which they found those human remains but there's also the house in
01:07which the property is on.
01:11So police are looking very closely at those two locations of interest.
01:16They also told us that the remains that they found are thought to have been of a missing
01:21man from the Nepean region who went missing last night.
01:24His family initially tipped off police telling them that there was perhaps a place of interest
01:31for them to look at.
01:32That place of interest is behind me on Glenys Place and it's there that they arrived and
01:38upon initial searches discovered those remains.
01:42They also told us that the person that was found is also known to those three people
01:47that were arrested.
01:48Here's what the New South Wales Police had to say during that press conference.
01:53A couple of hundred metres of the address that police had attended to, it's a bit of
01:56a rural area and it was within a paddock that police during the course of their canvass
02:01and those initial inquiries did come to identify what they believed to be a body in the middle
02:08of that paddock.
02:10It is covered by some items at the moment which is what's limiting us from being able
02:14to confirm that it is human remains.
02:18And Digby, what have some of the locals had to say out there?
02:21Yeah, well since we arrived we're standing in the driveway of one neighbour who lives
02:27directly opposite that police cordon and he came out and talked to us and said that this
02:31is usually a quiet place.
02:33Usually people, he hasn't really ever experienced anything like this before, he's been living
02:38here for three years.
02:40He said that a number of the properties in this area are horse farmers living on lifestyle
02:44blocks.
02:45A little bit further up the road to my left I spoke to an elderly couple who have lived
02:51in the region for over 50 years and they said they've never experienced anything like it
02:56and that this community is a very tight-knit community, they catch up every Tuesday night
03:01and it's sort of a big surprise for them.
03:04Here's what those two elderly couple and the neighbour here had to say.
03:08I don't think there's been this much action in Glenora for a long time but there's not
03:14many.
03:15I mean it's a dead-end street, all the properties down the end are horse properties and people
03:19pretty much keep to themselves and lots of people walk at night because it's a really
03:22quiet area and pretty safe.
03:24They didn't say Gleness Place, just that in Glenory there was the remains of a body and
03:33that sounded so gruesome.
03:37So at this point there's no suggestion that this is related to any organised crime group.
03:43Since we've been standing here the police forensic team have come in in their white
03:47van and they've made their way through to those two crime scenes where they'll conduct
03:52a little bit of a deeper search into trying to figure out what might have exactly gone
03:58wrong here but we'll certainly keep you up to date as the night goes on but it seems
04:03like it'll be a long one for the authorities here as they figure out what exactly went
04:08wrong.
