00:00Almost 30,000 barangays have been affected by drug-cleared cases.

00:06This is also based on the data of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency or PDEA.

00:10In spite of the campaign against illegal drugs by the government,

00:15the number of people who are addicted to anti-illegal drugs operations has decreased significantly.

00:21Joshua Garcia is now in the center of the news.

00:25Along with the government's efforts to eradicate illegal drugs,

00:31thousands of barangays across the country have been declared as a drug-free community.

00:36The total number of drug-cleared barangays is 29,390.

00:43This is a large number because the number of drug-affected barangays is 6,113.

00:50According to PDEA spokesperson Atty. Joseph Calulot,

00:53most of the barangays declared as drug-cleared are in Metro Manila.

00:58While they also have drug-unaffected barangays

01:01where there are no drug-related activities

01:04that are within 0.76% or equal to 320 barangays.

01:10In addition, PDEA also stated that despite the continued use of illegal drugs,

01:15it is the priority of the agency to protect the rights of the people.

01:18Calulot gave their demand reduction programs

01:23where 65% of those who die in their anti-illegal drug operations decreased.

01:28The program of our Director General is aligned with the program of our President

01:35that if we have anti-illegal drug operations, it must be human rights based.

01:41So in our program now, we will see that we are doing more demand reduction.

01:49What is this demand reduction?

01:55for the people to avoid the use of illegal drugs.
