00:00Hello, I'm Gill Buchanan, the editor of the Falkirk Herald, and I'm here to tell you about
00:04some of the stories that are making the headlines in our print edition, which is on sale now.
00:08We lead on local residents, who are facing Scotland's largest council tax increase, an
00:14eye-watering 15.6%, after a proposal by two independent councillors received enough votes
00:20to push it through. We have details on what it will mean for householders. However, one
00:26of the councillors has spoken out about the widespread abuse she has received over the
00:30proposal, which was eventually backed. We also reveal that a faulty parking barrier
00:36at Muiravenside Country Park sees many people being allowed to park for free, an issue which
00:41the council admits is costing them much-needed revenue. A fatal accident inquiry is to be
00:47held after a Falkirk man was stabbed and killed by his mentally ill son, who had been released
00:52into his care by NHS Forth Valley. Falkirk now has a reformed UK councillor, after Clare
00:58Mackie-Brown revealed she had joined the party. She was originally elected on a Conservative
01:04ticket before quitting and becoming an independent last year.

01:12Heart Foundation to mark the third anniversary of their young son having successful open
01:17heart surgery, aged only five. Congratulations to Anne MacDonald of Mediabank Cars for You,
01:25who received a UK Community Champion Award for her work with the charity.
