Transcript
00:00there are ways to get free solicited drafted wills.
00:02And I'm a money-saving expert, so, of course,
00:04that's what I'm going to tell you about.
00:06Let's get on to that, shall we? OK.
00:08Now, wills normally cost hundreds of pounds to do.
00:10If you have assets, do a will, so you decide where they go.
00:15Now, look, if you die willless,
00:16the state decides where your assets are directed,
00:19and it depends on which of the UK nations you're in.
00:22In England, for example, if you're married,
00:24the first £322,000 goes to your spouse.
00:27After that, it's divided between your spouse and your children.
00:30Now, you might have adult children from a previous relationship
00:32that you want to protect who might get nothing
00:34if you don't have a will.
00:35Doing a will means you decide, not following some rules.
00:39You can look at the intestacy rules on GOV.UK.
00:42March is free wills month for those aged 55.
00:47These are solicited drafted wills, single wills or a mirror will,
00:51where you and your spouse have exactly the same wills
00:53reflecting off each other, as long as it's not complex,
00:56where you may be charged. You've got very complex situations.
00:59That's the link to book it on.
01:00You need to do it by the end of the month,
01:01but appointments can be after that.
01:03Now, it does this twice a year in different locations.
01:06So, this time round, it includes London, Birmingham, Bristol,
01:08Cardiff, Edinburgh and more. Go look up on the website.
01:11But it's likely that Manchester, Nottinghamshire,
01:13Northern Ireland and Cornwall will be in the October one.
01:16Why do they do this? Well, they do this in the hope
01:19that you will leave a bequest to charity,
01:21something in your will to a charity,
01:23typically £300 to £1,000 or a percentage of your assets.
