00:00A man was walking in this area of the barangay Maypangdan in Barongan, Eastern Saumar.

00:07What he didn't know is that he was being followed by the police.

00:10When he was able to confirm the subject of the beating, Waranto Perez, for the case of statutory rape, he was sentenced to 54 years in prison.

00:21From Quezon City, he traveled to Eastern Saumar to the operatives of Galas Police Station to catch the man who was hiding there.

00:29Someone told me that he has a family in Borongan, Eastern Saumar. Fortunately, the man was sighted there.

00:40In a police investigation, the crime happened in February 2021 in Barangay Tatalon in Quezon City.

00:46The accused was accompanied by the victim's wife.

00:49According to the victim's mother, her 8-year-old son was not able to confess because of fear.

00:55They only found out that the accused did this five times to the victim.

01:00He told me that when he went to the computer, he was called.

01:06I didn't know that he was doing something up there.

01:10He was afraid and he was being given money not to confess.

01:15I didn't know that he would do that.

01:18It's like his family. That's what he would do. That's not right.

01:25In the police station, the victim's mother confronted the accused.

01:29We trusted you. Why did you do that?

01:36Why did you do that? We don't treat you differently.

01:40The accused was asked about the case he's facing.

01:42It's already dark. There's no evidence. We're just drunk.

01:50We're not drinking.

01:53That's why we're asking for forgiveness.

01:56The police have already returned the warrant and are waiting for the commitment order from the court.
