00:11State Exco in charge of religious affairs Datuk Rahmat Mariman said the individuals
00:16commonly cited reasons such as not feeling well or being unable to fast.
00:21He said as of the seventh day of Ramadan, the department had conducted 11 operations
00:25at 127 eatery premises in Malacca.
00:29He said offences related to not fasting cannot be compounded and the violators will be brought
00:34to court to face charges.
00:36The arrests were made under section 49 of the Malacca Sharia Offences Enactment.
00:41If convicted, offenders could face a fine of up to 1,000 ringgit or a jail term of up
00:47to six months.
