00:00Let me do this Brock Nelson one that happened late Thursday night. Brock
00:05Nelson goes from the Islanders over to Colorado. They get a big second line
00:09center that's gonna help Matt. Now the return is outstanding. The Isles get this
00:14kid that they took in the first round a couple years ago who's been lighting up
00:16the OHL and he's gonna be in the mix. They get a first rounder. They get a
00:20third rounder conditional. So a good return for the Isles for a guy that was
00:23going to be a UFA. He's 35 years old. He's played 900 games for them but that can
00:28happen. Let's take this from the Colorado side Tom. We've seen their odds
00:32move. I've seen a move anywhere from 7 to 8 to 1 now to win the Cup. Moving the
00:37West seems to be really loading up. What does this do for the Avalanche? This yeah
00:42it just makes the abs that much deeper. A team that we know can perform in the
00:46playoffs. I think they they need to shore up some of those deficiencies that they
00:50had. You know they were talking about moving Casey Middlestad. Whether that's
00:54you know unfolds to deadline we're not sure but I think there's a great move
00:57them. They'll put them on probably the second power play along with the second
01:01forward line but the second power play a player that wins faceoffs and can be on
01:04the penalty kill. So I think it's an overall great move for the abs and it's
01:08also a great move for the Isles. Getting a first-round pick back. They said it was
01:12gonna be 26 or 25, 26 or 26, 27. I forget what the condition was but they also need
01:17to start building back up that prospect pool because they only had what one
01:21first-round pick over the past five or six years. So it's great from both sides.
01:24I think the abs are not done making moves. I think they'll try to add one
01:27more player. Sure up that bottom six and be ready to roll into the playoffs. Yeah
01:32there's a lot of conditions with that first rounder. So I think the Colorado
01:37also owes Philly a first rounder and it depends on when the first if they have
01:44to give it to Philly this year then the Islanders would get 27. You know that all
01:49these deals are always like top 10 protected, top 12 protected, etc. So
01:53there's a lot of stipulations but the Islanders get a first rounder and they
01:56get something else they didn't have and I obviously know the Islanders very well
01:59and that's a dynamic young offensive player like Cal Ritchie who the Islanders
02:05don't have any of those. They don't have many of those aside from Matt Barzell and
02:08maybe one or two others. So Cal Ritchie is 20 years old who maybe could be a
02:12dynamic offensive player for them in the future. Good thing. The other one that
02:15kind of moved the board a little bit in the last two days with the trade
02:19deadline is Tampa pushing the chips again here Tom. Now we've seen Tampa do
02:25this in the past. They've won a couple cups in the last five years so Breeze
02:29Blot knows what he's doing. I loved what he said afterwards too because I am such
02:33a proponent of this Tom. When you have a chance to win the cup I don't care about
02:38first round draft picks that are gonna be between 28 and 30 in the end of the
02:43first round. I don't care. I'd rather get players that are going to help me
02:47potentially win a cup. Now you can argue with me if Yanni Gord and Oliver Borstrand
02:51are guys that are gonna maybe help them win the cup but that's the kind of guys
02:55that Tampa always adds when they've made those runs to the cup so I can't fault
03:00Breeze Blot for doing it. Absolutely in total agreement like we've seen them do
03:04this with Barclay Goudreau a couple of years ago at this point whatever it was
03:09but when you get these first round picks again three years down the road when you
03:13draft that player he's not gonna be an immediate impact player especially where
03:17you draft him at 25 to 30. If you're drafting him in the top five maybe he
03:20plays that year but there's times where you draft a 19 year old he's not even on
03:23the roster for another three years so you're three years down the road then
03:26he's not gonna be for another three years but more than half a decade away
03:29you're not willing to sacrifice that when you have such a strong core. Now I
03:33know Hedman got hurt last night a little bit banged up but when you have
03:35Vasilevskiy outside of last night's game over the last two weeks he's been playing
03:39at such an incredibly high level. Obviously getting Jake Gensel in the
03:42offseason was amazing. When you have this core you need to bolster that and getting
03:46these depth players which may not be massive stars but they make them just
03:49that much better. I bought in on Tampa at 17 to 1 about a week week and a half
03:53ago that line has moved I think that's on a 13 to 1 wherever might be to win
03:57the Cup. This is a team that you should be worried about especially if Florida
04:00is not gonna be fully healthy with Matthew Chuck on long-term IR it's Tampa.
