00:00The resilience of the populations, especially in the most developing countries,
00:09to natural disasters is always a very difficult issue to manage.
00:14An excellent example of collaboration between public and private
00:19is the development of so-called public-private schemes,
00:23where the public sector implements an insurance coverage
00:28for all citizens in the face of natural disasters, earthquakes or floods,
00:35supported in the backstage by insurance and re-insurance companies.
00:41These schemes are very efficient because they allow,
00:44with an optimized use of capital and funds,
00:49to make everyone access the insurance coverage of these events.
00:55They are also very interesting technical solutions,
00:58often based on parametric products.
01:01Solutions that use catastrophic modeling,
01:05so also that lead to interaction on the table,
01:10research entities, third-party players,
01:13which become the oracles of these parametric models,
01:19and allow a very effective collaboration,
01:23where we see how research, industry and the public
01:28can really contribute to the reduction of exposure to risk
01:34and to the increase of the resilience of citizens,
01:37especially in areas where access to insurance coverage
01:42for economic and social issues is very limited.
