00:00Three people were killed in a fire that broke out in Barangay Concepcion Uno in Marikina City

00:04while a senior citizen was also at home in the fire in Tondo, Manila.

00:10Isaiah Mirofuentes has the details.

00:16It was past 8 in the morning when the fire broke out in Barangay Concepcion Uno, Marikina City.

00:22Residents were using their own firewood.

00:25The fire spread quickly because the houses were made of light materials.

00:30The fire lasted for almost an hour.

00:33But after this, three people died after being trapped inside their house in the fire.

00:38It was later discovered that the fire was a mitre.

00:41In Barangay 32, Tondo, Manila, a residential area was also burned.

00:45An 83-year-old senior citizen was also killed when he was trapped inside his house.

00:51This fire prevention month, the number of fires in our country is on the left and right.

00:56According to the BFP, there are 5 to 7 fires per day.

01:00But if you look at the data for this year, 45% of the number of fires were reduced.

01:06In 2025, there were 2,475 fire incidents,

01:11lower than the 4,502 that were recorded in 2024.

01:16The National Capital Region was still the first to have 502 fire incidents.

01:2028% were lower in 2024, with 700 fire incidents at the same time.

01:2716% were lower, and only nine people died in the fire.

01:31Only 82 people were trapped inside the house from the beginning of the year until March 6,

01:35while 98% were trapped last year.

01:38A reminder from the BFP, if there are senior citizens and PWDs inside the house,

01:43it is better for them to sleep near the road outside the house.

01:46If you have two floors, make sure that their sleeping area is spread out on the ground floor.

01:53Or let them rest.

01:54The first reason for the fire was the left over charger,

01:58such as cellphones, and e-bike.
