00:00This video is for the guy that used Thermal Plaster instead of Thermal Paste inside of their computer.
00:04I have some good news and some bad news.
00:06The good news is that Thermal Plaster is a Thermal Interface material, so it should be adequate to cool your CPU.
00:11To put myself in your shoes, I did apply some Thermal Glue into a computer of my own, and it did keep the CPU relatively cool.
00:16But that's pretty much where the good news ends.
00:18Because, well, unlike normal Thermal Paste, Thermal Plaster is, well, an adhesive as well.
00:23So after a couple of days, here's what we're left with.
00:25After unscrewing the CPU cooler in its entirety, well, this thing still does not budge.
00:29And actually, we can still lift the entire case with it.
00:32And in fact, pulling hard enough, well, might just pull out the CPU entirely.
00:36And that's, of course, assuming you're using an AM4 CPU, which, uh, hopefully you are.
00:39At this point, I tried a handful of techniques to get it off, such as using a hot air gun, cutting a seam of the glue and trying to pry it off, twisting it off, trying to chisel it off.
00:47But ultimately, I recommend you grab some either high-percentage isopropyl alcohol or some acetone and try to soak that CPU and glue combo in that for as long as possible.
00:55If you're lucky, that'll weaken the bond enough for you to pry off the CPU.
00:58And if you're extremely lucky, you'll do that without damaging any of the pins on the underside.
01:03Best of luck, my friend. You might need it.
