00:00Well, it's great news that East Lindsay District Council are pulling out of the nuclear waste
00:05project, the nuclear dump. They're not going to take part in it anymore. That's terrific
00:09news. But what we want is for them to stand with the residents and say that they now object
00:16to it and call on Lincolnshire County Council to pull out. If we can get Lincolnshire County
00:21Council to pull out, it stops completely. And that's what we want.
00:26Now you've got two motions that you're putting forward to the council today. Is that the
00:33message that you're sending to them?
00:36Yes. East Lindsay needs to ask Lincolnshire County Council to pull out. And second, we
00:42want compensation from nuclear waste services. We've got a talented team here at East Lindsay,
00:47good leadership. They spent a considerable amount of time in good faith on this project.
00:52It's been, frankly, a disaster. And now we want to be compensated properly for it.
00:58So how many communities would be affected if this went ahead?
01:03Well, there were eight nuclear waste services events in each of the communities. So it's
01:08between eight and 10 communities. They can't sell their houses. They're stuck. It's no
01:13good investing because of all the uncertainty. So it's been a terrible impact on a second
01:19community because this happened four years ago in Fettlethorpe. And now they've moved
01:24from a 67-acre brownfield site to 1,000 acres they've identified in the middle of the countryside
01:31and farmland.
01:34And that's what you're fighting for?
01:36That's what we're fighting for.
