00:00As a writer, I started to read when I was very young.
00:08Words are never enough when what you have to say is too much.
00:16Since I was very young, I have had a deep inclination towards public service,
00:23which some close relatives and friends sometimes do not understand.
00:29And believe me, it is something I cannot explain.
00:34I have followed my vocation, the one that often drives me to work more than 24 hours non-stop.
00:43As the team knows, we never set a time in our goal.
00:50It is to reach goals aligned with our constitutional mission,
00:56to build a fairer society governed by the law.
01:03I want to thank God for allowing me to be here today.
01:11Likewise, to the President of the Republic,
01:16and to all the members of the National Council of the Magistrate for their vote of confidence.
01:25To my family for their support and understanding.
01:32To the Magistrate, Miriam Germán Brito,
01:36for the opportunity to occupy the General Directorate of Prosecution of the Public Ministry
01:43and for allowing me to have independence in my actions.
01:48To each person who has taken the time to send me a message of support, advice, criticism, and why not say.
02:01To those who helped us strengthen our function as General Director of Prosecution.
02:11To the prosecutors, prosecutors, prosecutors of court, and adjuncts.
02:20Thank you all.
02:22To all the technical staff, administrative and security staff.
02:27To Giovanni Falcone, the Italian Anti-Mafia judge who marked my career from the university.
02:41I am convinced that the prosecutor, more than words, has to provide results.
02:50But I do not want to miss this opportunity to talk about some formal commitments
02:58that I want to make today in front of you as a witness and in front of the country.
03:05Because as my teachers know, many of them here today,
03:11I always strive to obtain an A.
03:16And it is that the one who gives the basics only has the basics.
03:21And all of us, without exception, must strive for excellence when we work in public service.
03:31And it is that this excellence is always beyond the basics.
03:39The extraordinary always makes connection with the extraordinary effort.
03:47These commitments that I want to make today in front of you are the following.
03:55Honesty, transparency, and efficiency.
04:00I have always been convinced that honesty, transparency, and efficiency are not added values in a public service.
04:11They are essential values, intrinsic to public service.
04:18Regarding the law.
04:20The second commitment that I want to make with you is that my actions will be governed by strict adherence to the Constitution,
04:36to the laws, guaranteeing the due process and respect for the human rights of all people,
04:43regardless of gender, social status, or their role in the criminal process.
04:57And here I want to allow myself to be very emphatic
05:05in that I have as the first prosecutor elected in my career,
05:13and who started from the ground zero for voluntary law,
05:18which honors me deeply.
05:22I want to tell my fellow prosecutors the following.
05:27I am committed to working tirelessly to strengthen the career,
05:34together with the Supreme Council of the Public Prosecutor's Office.
05:38We are going to leave the incentive system for achieved strategic goals established at scale.
05:49Continuous training for all.
05:52A new wage policy.
05:56The long-awaited and deserved pension fund.
06:12A goal in which we must recognize the efforts made by the magistrate Miriam Germán to make it happen.
06:20In the same way, we will promote a stronger career with a system of consequences,
06:27in which there is an assessment of performance, respect for meritocracy,
06:32and disciplinary and criminal consequences for those who are part of the correct procedure of a prosecutor.
