00:47congratulations a nominee for the class of 2025 possible inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall
00:54of Fame how do you feel today hearing the news? Oh that's it's pretty exciting I mean that's it's
00:59an incredible honor and the best news is Steve Stevens being inducted with me so that really
01:05made my day. Because if not with your mates what's the point he has been with you forever. Yeah I
01:12don't want to be up there on my own. Oh man and it reminds me of this brand new song that I just
01:19got a chance to hear from the new album Still Dancing and right off the bat hearing the history
01:29with you and Steve it is such an iconic sound it's so comfortable and immediately you guys shine and
01:36everything I've always loved about Generation X and Billie Idol just comes through immediately
01:43because the players are there the sounds are there it was like I listened I got to live your life
01:49story in in a matter of hours because this song this new album talk about starting from the
01:56beginning and all the way through to where you are now please tell us about this new song tell
02:03us about this new album your first full-length album in years. Yes well we were we were making a
02:10documentary in the last few years it kept getting interrupted by the coronavirus but because of
02:16that I kind of really made me aware of you know that I couldn't at this stage of my life I could
02:22really look over the landscape of my life and really sort of talk about that and Still Dancing
02:29the song itself it's like my life encapsulated into one song but the album itself actually
02:35tells the story of my life it goes through the sort of punk rock era in 1977 there's a song 77
02:42and then talks about coming to America and and going solo and then all the shenanigans that
02:48happened in between and so it really does tell the story of my life and we really sort of
02:54yeah we this the track selection you know normally like in the old days you always put
03:00like the hit single first and the next best song second but this really we really did this in the
03:06order of my life so it really does tell the story of my life and Still Dancing actually
03:11tells the story of my life but it's encapsulated into three minutes or something you know so
03:16and it's it's it had the most obvious sound of a Billy Idol record that you recognize but at the
03:25same time it's really fresh and vital and that's what we I feel about the album I feel there's not
03:30a bad song on it and I think it's probably one of my best records so just being able to say that
03:36this time of my life and being inducted the hall of fame all in one go is it's pretty amazing it's
03:41going to be an incredible year whatever happens right and and the wisdom and the perspective
03:49that you have that you can fully enjoy it that's something that really came through listening to
03:55Still Dancing over and over in my earbuds last night is that you you sound satisfied because
04:01you know exactly who you are yeah it's been a long ride but the ride's all I've known so
04:07that's it but you know what we're all going on our different rides and I'm
04:11I'm listening to the song and thinking about you and your life and here you are but I found
04:16myself listening to this song going how many people are gonna see this out on the road this
04:21summer with you and Joan on the tour and it's like you can't fake the funk I felt it in my heart

05:09no as you say we've just we have done some gigs together but we've never done a tour so this
05:13it's really it's been it's been you know a lot of people are really excited about it as well so it
05:19seems like it's a good move and how fantastic I want to know your thoughts on this Billy how
05:25fantastic to really see generation after generation go oh there's something we can
05:31take from this I hope so I mean yeah I suppose there's a number of artists I sort of think
05:38about that maybe they they might have got a bit of uh you know mischievous yeah yeah
05:47I hope so the upcoming tour with Joan Jett it's a nice day to tour again the forthcoming
05:55new full-length album Dream Into It hats off to you Billy man we're just so excited for this
06:03upcoming tour and new music fantastic Jolene that's incredible thank you everybody I'm
06:08I'm pretty excited I can't wait to play the music that's the thing it's going to be a great year
06:13because we haven't played any of this music live so it's all going to be fresh to us when we get
