00:00Gaming cred, uh-oh. Here we go.
00:02We are living through an unprecedented era in gaming right now.
00:07For the first time in the history of the world,
00:10the average gamer cred score has dropped below 0.25.
00:15If that number doesn't terrify you, I don't know what will.
00:18In today's society, we are surrounded on all sides by pre-ten gamers.
00:23People who pretend to be real gamers.
00:25It's not on.
00:25But in reality, you have never played Super Mario Galaxy.
00:32You see, back in the Xbox Live go-
00:36You know who really got me fucked up about this was Tekton.
00:40Because Tekton was going on about how much he likes Stellar Blade.
00:44And he said he played Stellar Blade.
00:46And I said, did you actually play Stellar Blade?
00:47He said, no, I played the demo for 10 minutes.
00:49Bro, these fake gamers makes me so fucking mad, man.
00:57Like, it's fake gamers, bro.
01:00It's like, no, you didn't play it.
01:02Like, if you didn't beat half of the game, you didn't play the game.
01:06You can't play 10% of the game and say you beat the game.
01:11That's stolen valor. It is.
01:14Olden era of gaming, everybody's gamer score was visible to the public.
01:19You could just click on somebody's profile and see,
01:21OK, you beat Mile High Club on veteran.
01:23This is an actual gamer.
01:25But today, they keep it all hidden because, of course, they do.
01:28That's actually a good point, is that they should probably do that.
01:31You know how, like, you have, like, a credit score?
01:34We could make a website of, like, a gamer score.
01:38Maybe China can do that, right?
01:40Because they have that whole social credit score.
01:42So they could make a video game credit score.
01:44That's a good idea.
01:46Game is FIFA.
01:47My favorite video game would have to be NBA 2K.
01:50Been playing that for many years.
01:51Wrong.
01:52My favorite video game is Madden.
01:53No, it isn't.
01:55Call of Duty.
01:56Deleted.
01:56Brent, that photo of San Andreas.
01:58Actual gamer in the building.
02:00Yesterday, I was watching.
02:01Honestly, I feel like there are a lot of, like, there are the sports ball gamers
02:06where, like, their idea of video gaming is FIFA, 2K, NBA 2K.
02:15Maybe some Call of Duty, right?
02:17If they really want to throw down.
02:20Other than that, they don't give a fuck.
02:23That's it.
02:24And there's so many of them.
02:27This Twitch streamer, I'm not going to say who it is, but
02:29Yeah, no, I forgot about Madden.
02:30He's going on this huge rant about video games.
02:33You could just tell from the look in his eye that he's never played Warcraft 3 in his entire life.
02:37Dude was just radiating this never played a Spyro game energy the whole night.
02:42You could tell from the chair he was sitting in that the man has never touched a single hitman game.
02:46Then he starts.
02:47This is the thing people get mad at me for, too, because I'm kind of in this boat.
02:51Like, I spent so much time only playing World of Warcraft that.
02:56Like, I thought Avowed was good.
03:02Think about that.
03:06Like, really, like, and so like that, that was bad, right?
03:09And I felt like, you know, it's like that.
03:10People are saying that Plato allegory of the cave.
03:14I was in the dark for so long, and now it's just, it's a lot, man.
03:21You play less games than Elon.
03:23I don't know about that, but I mean, like, maybe.
03:25Fuck.
03:26Like, it's bad.
03:27Like Joe Rogan.
03:27Yeah, I haven't played any other games, and now I'm trying to play more new games.
03:32Trying to catch up.
03:33Age of gaming.
03:34You know what game he starts talking about?
03:35Valorant.
03:36And that's when you know this is a 0.03 gamer cred level.
03:40I don't know, bro.
03:41There's a lot of e-girls that play Valorant.
03:44I don't even know why.
03:47We have got to boost our numbers, and the first part of this process
03:51is learning just how many games are better than Valorant.
03:54Max Payne, Max Payne 2, Max Payne 3, Bubsy, Balan.
03:59Did you play Assassin's Creed?
04:01Yeah, sure.
04:01I used to play Red Dead Redemption.
04:03That shit was fucking hard.
04:05But that's, like, the easiest game ever made.
04:07We have to...
04:15I don't know if it is or not.
04:16I have no idea.
04:18Expand our knowledge of gaming history or...
04:21See, there's the whole thing of fake gamer girls.
04:24See, like, we threw the baby out with the bathwater.
04:26There are some fake gamer girls out there.
04:29There are.
04:31There's not a lot of them, but they are out there.
04:36Pretenders will erase our illustrious legacy.
04:38You think all of them?
04:39Did you know that before the PS5,
04:40Sony made games for a different console called the PlayStation 4?
04:43Now think on that.
04:44Whoa!
04:46I don't have a game, cuz.
04:48Snoop, you got more games than Master Chief.
04:49You were in True Crime, Death Jam, Way of the Dog, Call of Duty, Fortnite.
04:53One of the stages in Tekken is just straight up called Snoop Dogg,
04:55and it's you sitting there on a big throne.
04:57I don't have a game.
04:59He actually does have more games than Master Chief.
05:01How is that even possible?
05:02Here is Naked Snake and Solid Snake.
05:08Can you tell me the difference?
05:09You have one second.
05:11Sorry, you took too long.
05:12500 cred has been deducted from your account.
05:15You have to understand that we are living in a world with gamers
05:19that don't even know about Oddworld, Munch's Odyssey.
05:21That's fine, I'm a big gamer.
05:23Uh, you hadn't tell me what dimension King Mickey has been sealed in
05:25for the past 27 years exactly.
05:27To be fair, he did play Space Marine 2 also.
05:31And that's fine.
05:32But he also, the thing is with Henry Cavill is that he also only played WoW.
05:39As far as I know.
05:41Like, he was addicted to WoW also.
05:44So it's like, yeah, you're a gamer.
05:45You play the same game.
05:46That's the thing.
05:50You know Donkey Kong specifically, like, that character.
05:52I don't think he speaks.
05:53Okay.
05:54When I was a kid, the coolest game was Core Borders 2
05:57because you could play as a little alien.
05:59Today, kids have godlike access to hundreds of incredible aliens.
06:03Let me look at some of these games.
06:04Today.
06:08I had, I think I had Kirby's Adventure.
06:09I don't remember that one.
06:11I had Adventure Link.
06:14I hated that game.
06:16I just want to look through these.
06:19Donkey Kong, obviously.
06:22Where's the other ones?
06:24Ninja Gaiden.
06:25Oh, is that?
06:25No, no, that's not it.
06:30Holy fuck.
06:32Metroid.
06:34Today, kids have godlike access to hundreds of incredible video games
06:39but are misled into playing the lamest trash imaginable.
06:43That's true.
06:43Actually, it would be a really good idea for all the video game companies to
06:51collectively decide to shut down every server for every live service game for one year.
07:00And in that time period, people could go and play other single-player games and older games.
07:07And like no Fortnite, no World of Warcraft, no Valorant, no League.
07:12And you have to play at this point.
07:14Now you have to play a new game.
07:17That'd be peak?
07:18Yeah, that would be like, that would be the year.
07:20That would be the year of the awakening.
07:22Apparently, you guys really, really like cats.
07:26I'm Anna, and I head up the Valorant studio.
07:31When you are interviewing for a job, they don't care how many Valorant skins you have.
07:35What they're going to do is ask you, what's the better bowling game?
07:39Flintstones or Animaniacs?
07:41The correct answer?
07:42Tech and Tag tournament.
07:45Nice.
07:45Really grind it out and hit the top rank on Valorant.
07:48That's going to net you about 42.7 gamer cred.
07:52See, remember what I was saying before about how like playing online games
07:55feels like building a castle on sand?
07:56That's the way I feel, bro.
07:57Like, I can't motivate myself to play online games like regularly.
08:04Just by completing the first mission of Marble Blast Ultra, you would have got 403 points.
08:10Jeffrey Derevensky is a McGill University professor who studies video games.
08:14Valorant has always been trash.
08:16When I was a teenager, all I played was multiplayer shooters.
08:19I went from-
08:20Yeah, I did that too.
08:21Wolfenstein to Counter-Strike to Rainbow Six, Halo, Gears, Battlefield.
08:25Looking back as an adult,
08:26I realized that I was actually generating more cred when I was 10 than when I was 16.
08:33You're right.
08:35That's the same fucking thing, man.
08:38Because I went from Halo to WoW,
08:41and that took me out of the video game ecosystem from like 2003 to 2018.
08:49Because that's whenever I played Dark Souls.
08:52So, I went 15 years in the cave.
08:59When I was 10, I was playing stuff like Tron Bond, Crash Bandicoot, Rogue Squadron,
09:03Shenmue, Power Stone, Gran Turismo, Diddy Kong Racing.
09:06I was unwittingly branching out into all these different genres of video games,
09:10and sometimes I would get lucky and play something made with genuine artistic vision,
09:15like Yoshi's Island.
09:17This was probably my favorite game growing up.
09:19I don't know if I ever said this, but I love this game so much.
09:24What is a movie from your career that would make the best video game?
09:27It's definitely gotta be Nacho.
09:28They already did that.
09:29I'm Bowser, baby.
09:30There are sections of this game where you-
09:32Yeah, he- what the fuck?
09:36Generating over 1,000 CPM.
09:38We're talking cred per minute.
09:40DK Country, Streets of Rage 2, Halo-
09:43I traded Donkey Kong Country away so I could get
09:46So I could get Super Monkey Ball 2 and Super Mario Sunshine.
09:53I remember this so well.
09:56Yep, I traded it away.
09:59I was like 12.
10:03These are verified gamers games with highly concentrated CPM.
10:08A player that has played these games is considered to be untouchable by the League of Gamers.
10:12When you are in a military combat scenario,
10:15who do you want watching your six?
10:17The dude that plays Quintus in Valorant,
10:19or the dude that's played through the entire campaign
10:22of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Iron Thunder on the hardest difficulty?
10:25When you see a car crash-
10:27That's true, right?
10:28It absolutely is true.
10:30It's because the people driving never played Project Gotham Racing.
10:34When you eat bad food, it's because the chef never played Cooking Mama.
10:38When your Beagle won't behave, should've played Nintendogs.
10:42I played Nintendogs.
10:44It was the most annoying fucking stupid game I've ever seen in my entire life.
10:50I bought the game for my DS.
10:51I got a DS kind of early.
10:54And I was like, this is the stupidest thing I've ever seen in my whole life.
10:58This is so dumb.
10:59Like, uh, really?
11:00No, it's a girl game?
11:02Of course it's a girl game.
11:04And the pizza's-
11:04Absolutely, it's a girl game.
11:06Spiderman 2.
11:07Pre-ten gamers are always trying to convince us that gamer cred is worthless.
11:13But if that's true, then why are so many rich and powerful people trying to acquire it?
11:17At one point, I was-
11:18No!
11:22Oh, geez.
11:26You know, maybe one of the best Quake players in the world.
11:27I actually own a Smash Bros.
11:28Yeah.
11:29I've never lost.
11:30I don't lose at Smash Bros.
11:31And you know what?
11:32I choose Luigi.
11:33Yeah, right.
11:33You only pick Game & Watch.
11:35We have something really exciting to talk about.
11:36We're here today to talk to you about skins and other cosmetics.
11:39The downfall of the pre-ten gamer is that they were eternally doomed to play games where you can only pretend to have fun.
11:45Great game-
11:46Yeah, that's what it is, man.
11:48It's like, yeah.
11:48Is it true Elon Musk started his own game studio?
11:50I'm believing when I see it.
11:51Julia.
11:52However, there is another world of good, cred-generating games like-
11:57NBA Jam.
11:58Oh!
11:58Bass Invaders.
12:00Classic.
12:00NFL Blitz.
12:02Classic.
12:02I'm reading it, Todd.
12:04Classic.
12:04Oh.
12:05Oh, that's a big one.
12:06Oh, that's a huge one.
12:07That's a real one.
12:10Tony Hawk.
12:11Oh, classic.
12:12Mario, Mario, Mario, Mario, Mario, Mario.
12:14There it is.
12:15The Street Fighter.
12:17Damn.
12:19Just some random white girl?
12:21Holy shit, Street Fighter.
12:26Dang.
12:29Tekken.
12:30Okay.
12:31Monkey Ball.
12:32Monkey-
12:32That-
12:33Dude.
12:35I remember-
12:36So, like, I was playing this game with my cousins.
12:38And I figured out how to do, like, the jumps and, like, you know, finish a stage in, like,
12:42four seconds.
12:44And I remember, like, one of my younger cousins thought I was, like, a fucking wizard.
12:48Because they're like, wait, you could do that?
12:50I was like, yeah.
12:51Just fucking go off the edge and go right into it.
12:55Yeah, it was-
12:56And I remember, like, you could save the, uh-
12:58You could save the replays.
13:00I probably still have, if, like, the cartridge is to work.
13:02I probably have, like, saved replays from, like, 2002.
13:05Yeah, so anyways, play-
13:06Dude, I love that game.
13:07If you're in a video game, watch Dogs.
13:09Look out for this game.
13:10Ooh.
13:15I remember that for Star Fox.
13:16Yeah.
13:18No, it's like, maybe-
13:19Maybe parents should not let their kids play live service games until they become teenagers.
13:25Maybe that would make video games better.
13:28And it might hurt to do as a parent.
13:31Because your kid wants to play Fortnite all the time.
13:33But, like, what's better for your kid's future?
13:37You know, do you-
13:37Yeah, 18+.
13:38Like, so you think live service video games should be 18+.
13:42I think that'd be a good idea.
13:44Yeah, maybe you're right.
13:45Star Fox 64 was fire back in the day.
13:48Dude, Star Fox 64 was fucking awesome.
13:51I love that game.
13:52Yeah, like, I played that all the time.
13:56My roommates are, like, crackheads for Fortnite at 30 years old.
14:00Well, like, the thing is that-
14:02Well, like, the thing is that, like, I don't think that's really a bad thing.
14:05It's just that nowadays you have so much live service games that I think that people do
14:12get trapped inside of an ecosystem of one singular game.
14:15And they end up missing out on a lot of really great gaming opportunities.
14:20And I feel like in a lot of cases, like, are you really going to have the same degree of,
14:25like, fulfillment and fun playing and farming WoW in, like, seasons 17 to 18 as you are,
14:33like, playing five other single-player games that are, like, you know, really good experiences?
14:38And, like, for some people, the answer to that is yes, right?
14:41But I think that for many of them,
14:45a habit gets created where people just keep playing the same games over and over
14:50and they don't try new games.
14:51That's why I've been trying to actively play games and do other things myself.
14:56Online games are way different than they used to be.
14:58Yeah, yeah, they definitely are.
14:59Of course, they are Mortal Kombat, bro.
15:01It's subjective.
15:02Well, I know it's subjective, but I do think that, like, and I'm talking about myself, right?
15:07I mean, this is mainly me.
15:08This is what I think.
15:09This is how I feel more than anything.
15:11So, yeah, people are just under copium when playing competitive live service games.
15:15Yeah, I just don't really see how that's going to be interesting.
15:18Wasn't Monster Hunter one of those games?
15:19It was.
15:20Like, what would it be like if I never played Monster Hunter, right?
15:24I mean, because I think about that.
15:25Because, like, that game was fucking amazing.
15:27Like, I played that game pretty much non-stop for a month straight.
15:31I logged 150 hours into it in, like, in, like, a month.
15:34It was nuts.
15:36You can't shank in single-player games.
15:37Well, yeah, you can.
15:38You've got plenty of cheats in single-player games.
15:42A lot of League and Overwatch fans literally never try to earn anything in any one game
15:45they play.
15:45It's actually so depressing.
15:46Yeah, I guess so.
15:47The fact that the wealthiest man in the world had to pay people to play so he could pretend
15:51to be a gamer is all the proof I need that gamer credit is more powerful than anything.
15:55Well, it's that gamers, people might not understand this yet.
15:59So, I'm going to say something that is going to make people mad.
16:09I think that the gamer ripple effect from, let's say, Gamergate
16:16actually did have a second or third or fourth order effect that ended up getting Donald
16:21Trump elected.
16:24I do.
16:25I think that it radicalized a lot of young guys, and they were fucking annoyed by it.
16:31Absolutely.
16:32And, like, now, I'm not going to say, but, like, it did, because it got them out of their
16:37cave.
16:37It got them out of the, uh, out of grandma's basement, and they went down to the voting
16:43booth, and they voted against whoever the fuck is going to make their main new character
16:49a girl.
16:50You want to make it?
16:51Oh, wow, you're going to cover up her cleavage?
16:54Okay, well, I'm going to cover up your chances to be an elected representative.
16:58Absolutely.
16:59That's what happened.
17:00Now, I'm not saying it was a big effect, but I'm saying it happened, and I'm saying it
17:06mattered.
17:07That's it.
17:09Most guys voted Trump.
17:10They did.
17:11And most players of, like, actually serious video games are guys.
17:15Like, abso-fucking-lutely.
17:17That has to be the most retarded take.
17:22Okay?
17:23Explain why.
17:26Let me play through Yoshi.
17:27Maybe I should do that.
17:27Explain why.
17:30No, you're not going to get banned.
17:33It's not a retarded take.
17:36I unironically believe this.
17:39I'm not joking around.
17:40I actually think this played a role.
17:42Now, was it the biggest role?
17:43No, it was not.
17:44I think the policies and things like that are more important.
17:47But it was important.
17:51You won't get banned.
17:51You recommended Yoshi's Island.
17:53That's on- if- if- by the way, if he didn't type that, he would have gotten banned.
18:04Oh, shit.
18:06Oh, shit.
18:06Yeah, there it is, right?
18:08And, uh, concepts of the plan are important, right?
18:10I wonder how many people use 4chan?
18:12Yeah, you've got a lot of these people.
18:14This guy's not responding.
18:14It doesn't really matter.
18:15But, um, anyway, uh, we got a funny poster.
18:17Keep him safe.
18:18Yeah, I guess so.
18:19Um, uh, yeah.
18:21Kid thinks boomers don't know what good games are.
18:23Proves he has no idea.
18:24Yeah, exactly.
18:25And, uh, I think this is what's going to happen.
18:28It might be retarded, but it's true.
18:29That's another big thing, is that people think that just because something is stupid that it's not true.
18:35I actually think the opposite.
18:37If you hear something really, really stupid, that's probably what the truth is.
18:44That is.
18:46It is.
18:46That's probably what it really is.
18:49I don't think people are motivated to vote because of the censoring of games.
18:53Uh, I do.
18:55I do.
18:55I think that everything has an effect like that.
18:58And the reason why, and so this is the meta level reason why.
19:02It's because guys that see that they see a group of people that are coming into their space,
19:08that are changing their space in a way that these guys don't want, don't like,
19:13and don't agree with, and never consented to.
19:16And they're going to do whatever they can to say, fuck you to those people.
