00:00Instead of getting a good job, they were beaten and tortured.
00:05Some Filipinas were even victims of human trafficking in a crypto farm in Myanmar.
00:10They told us in Jimmy Integrated News about their torture and how they were saved.
00:16Watch JP Soriano Exclusive.
00:19♪♪♪
00:49They say they were beaten and tortured when they couldn't pay their debt.
00:55I couldn't move because my mouth was scratched.
00:59I was possessed.
01:01I had two hands and my feet were tied.
01:05It was like I was possessed.
01:08At that time, I just wanted to die.
01:13That's what I told the boss,
01:16that I just wanted to die.
01:19At that time, I hit my head on the bed.
01:25That's when I wanted to die.
01:27One year ago, Jenny and A were recruited by a friend to work in Laos as call center agents.
01:35But when it came to that, the job that awaited them was a love scammer.
01:39When they got caught in Laos last September,
01:42they were hired by a friend to work in a crypto farm in Myanmar.
01:47That's where they met Rose.
01:50Their employer is also a Chinese national.
01:53And that's where the torture took place.
01:56In the heat of the moment, they decided to flee.
02:00On February 9, along with more than 100 workers from Kenya, Uganda, Bangladesh, and Nepal,
02:06they gathered in one part of the crypto farm and left the house.
02:11And we started running.
02:13We met guards.
02:15The guards we met shot us so that we could escape from them
02:21until we reached the back.
02:23At the back, there was a high cement.
02:26We all went up there and helped each other.
02:31But the others that time were already caught.
02:34We returned to the block where we were all shot.
02:38We thought that this was the end.
02:44I have no doubt that there is still a chance for us to be saved.
02:49I thought that this is where I was going to die.
02:53A Kenyan was the one who was able to escape and speak to a reporter.
03:00That's why the Myanmar Special Force came to the DKBA,
03:04or Democratic Karen Buddhist Army, and they were saved.
03:08On February 19, Jenny, Rose, and A,
03:13along with some other Filipinos in the crypto farm, returned to the Philippines.
03:17One of them was their friend who gave them a job.
03:21And he was immediately arrested, according to the Department of Migrant Workers.
03:26They were posing as distressed OFWs, but were actually perpetrators of the crime.
03:32So upon arrival, it was discovered that three of them actually
03:36had pending cases in different parts of the metropolis.
03:39But one of them was arrested right on the spot.
03:43According to Migrant Worker Secretary Hans Kakda,
03:46the Philippine victims of human trafficking will receive financial assistance
03:50and will undergo medical and psychosocial examination and therapy.
03:55And the government will answer to the victims here in the Philippines.
04:02For GMA Integrated News, I am JP Soriano, your witness.
